Mulie season in Alberta is off to a good start. My daughter and I both drew mulie doe tags in 310 (home zone). Opening day, we spotted a herd of about 30 or so animals moving from their feeding area at about 6:30 am. The animals were moving slow and feeding along the way, so we had plently of time to get move in and position. At legal shooting time, we picked our does out of the herd, ranged them at 203 yards and counted to 3. Both does dropped immediately and that was that. The rest of the herd didn't seem too worried until we made our way up the hill. She's shooting a 7mm-08 Stevens 200 scoped with a Leupold M8-6x. Her Hornady 139 gr. Interlock penetrated between two ribs and mashed up both lungs, hardly any bruised meat. My Hornady 140 gr. Interlock out of my Savage 16FSS .270 WSM went clean through. The shot was high but completely took out a 2.5" section of spine. It didn't damage too much meat either. I went back to the same general area the next evening and filled my WT tag. Being that the weatherman predicts above average temps for the next while, all 3 animals were butchered yesterday and will find their way to Gour-Mart on tuesday.

Makes me happy to see daughters being brought out hunting too :)

I know a number of women that hunt including my daughter. In fact my kid can out-hunt and out-shoot most men I have hunted with! ;) LoL
