DCRA Annual Precision/Sniper results .... They are UP!

A WO from the Cdn. Scottish reported a nice round, centered group at 800m. Don't know if this was during the walk back or the matches.

The CWO (now a Captain) did it during the walkbacks. I was spotting for him, and can go so far as to say that he didn't start firing the walkbacks until 500m. Outstanding shooting from an outstanding captain.

I was shooting open as I had to use my own Remington. There were only 2 C3A1s on the line and I beat both the teams using them soundly.

What GL neglects to tell people is that the one C3 was assembled from parts the night before walkbalks in the back of a cube van. The guy shooting it is a weapons tech no sniper but if I remember correctly that weapons tech did finish in the top 3 for the 3 gun aggregate...... Also the weapons tech was shooting IVI ammo not match ammo. Apples and apples GL!!

The top 3 in the 3 gun aggregate were all civilians. None of them were using a c3.

top 3 military were. I took there picture. All 3 were MCpl's from LFWA top was a sniper from 3VP and the 2nd and 3rd were Weapons techs from 1 SVC Bn.

The sniper was using a borrowed C3 from 1VP and the weapons techs were using a parted together C3. my whole point was even though GL did great with his rifle it was his rifle with match ammo. The military guys were using IVI ammo on unfamiliar rifles.

It was pretty much apples to apples.
I shot a factory remington 700 with purchased at the range 155gr Hornady match ammo. My spotter had maybe 30 total rounds through my rifle before the match started.
The two reg force teams shot a C3 and a C3A1 with 168gr HPBT IVI match ammo (I signed for it).

Not trying to take away from how well you shot. Cause you did shoot great!! You shot your rifle very good, the difference between you shooting your rifle well and a borrowed rifles that the other guys shot. I expect you to do better than guys running borrowed and freshly assembled rifles. If you didn't then I would worry about ya. That is the apples to apples. A known rifle over a unknown rifle.

Good shooting on everyones parts. Did the weapons tech happen to be a 2 time Queens medalist and qualified sniper? ;)
Hey what the heck is IVI match? Not using Normal anymore? Can anyone tell me if its better than the Norma?

I was looking and examining that newly issued IVI Match ammo. No more Norma Match ammo with the 168 gr SMK HPBT bullet like we knew. It's IVI with Sierra 168 gr SMK bullet.... Was that ever a novelty to see, IVI making match ammo! Who woulda thunk? :p

Cheers,
Barney

Actually longshot he was a tyro from 1 svc Bn The gentleman you speak of was shooting beside me with Red he had a rifle from Keith and Linda if I remember correctly? But the C3 guy was a MCpl from 1Svc Bn who assembled the rifle from 3 different rifles in the back of our cube van the night before walkbacks.

Nice good on him then. Why on earth would they stick with a 168 mk when changing ammo other than the obvious need to change dope? Silly really. A quick switch to a 175 mk would have solved any issues. Anyone run any through a chrony yet? Hopefully its better than the Norma was.

Come on LS you are making sense do you not know that the Army is not here to make sense. the cost was probably 2 cents per 100,000 more for 175g I haven't heard of anyone running a chrony on it yet though. My understanding was that IVI had to give the same characteristics as Norma to get the contract.
