DCRA No 4 headspace

Is the DCRA No 4 set up re headspace to only fire 7.62 surplus ammo, or is it safe to shoot .308 Win commercial ammo in the rifle?

Headspace will be fine for both.

Cartridge dimensions are identical between the 308Win and 7.62X51 rounds. The difference is in the chambers. NATO chambers have a larger tolerance. I would not be surprised if the DCRA No4 is chambered to SAAMI specs and not to mil specs being a target rifle. Ganderite can expand on this more probably. Just keep your reloads to reasonable pressures (less than 50,000psi) since the No4 action is not as strong as other front locking bolt actions.

I've played with a variety of .308 Win factory ammo and 7.62 military ammo and found that there really wasn't much difference among them, although there is a nominal difference.
