meet gord for the first time this weekend in ottawa he is doing great and he is very focused on the rest of the week..he gave me a few pointers on reading the flags and it payed off i won the long range challenge in ff.

Today was ugly for everybody. The Alexander of Tunis tossed folks around pretty well, although Marius De Champlain and Wolfgang Sholtze both turned in 47's w/ 5v's.
Conrats to Bruce Condie for his 35. 6v at 600m in the Letson.
 
Today was much cooler, only up to 26C and felt like 30C according to thw weathernetwork.

Yesterday, on the 800m line adding the humidity in, the temp was 115.4 F using my Kestrel 3000.

Everyone is having a gas here, too bad more of the westerner's could not have made it too.

Congrat's to both Gord and Darin with there win. I consider Gord to be a friend of mine and obviously he was holding out on me as i finshed 3rd in F/F. I am going to have to have a chat with him when he gets back...

Am home now and will leave the unpacking for another day.
It was good to see some known faces again and meet some new.Glad to be able to put some faces to some CGNers as well.
I would like to pay my respects and congratulate every TR and F'er that came and survived the last 10 or so days of challenges.
Special Congratulations to Leo,Jim and Dan for thier victories in the Gov Generals Championship.
This is Leo's 3RD!!!!
It'll take awhile to "recover" but I want to say a few words before the meds get to working.
The entire group at the DCRA involved in putting this together and pulling off what I consider a great event are to be thanked.Lotsa work and hard efforts and with little to few bugs .The "new" ICFRA Target was humbling but I believe the best for our sport as well as squadding the F'ers together was greatly enjoyed and preferred.
Yes it was Hottawa and the new wind flags did start to work after a bit of rain and sun got rid of the sizing.The food was great at the mess and where else can you stay with bed and 3 squares for 30 bucks a day! Somehow over the week I managed to drop 16lbs (probably got rid of that extra water weight)
So even better than some Fat Camp.
More shooting could be had over these days that I thought I was in shooting heaven.What a choice of events.Something for everyone!!!
Yes I know it's long,far away and expensive(so is Disneyland) but what better vacation for any avid target shooter.
Bob"The Viper" and as well as some other well known shooters who visit here, were missed and perhaps next year will be joining

As F Class (all denominations) grows our success in the DCRA as a valid
Competition Class will only be made by attendance numbers.It was great to see representation from Saskatchewan (hope you fellas got home ok..whata drive) Quebec and NewBrunswick and all.
Heard some good ideas came out of the F Powow and look forward to going fullbore at it next year.
Keep yer powder dry and the noisy end towards the targets.

Glad to see you made it back home Gord. Anybody who saw you compete last week will vouch for your grit, not to mention your skill. One damn point is all that seperated you from Leo in the Gov's.

The whole week really was a test for everybody. Between the heat and the humidity, everybody's body, mind and ammo had a damn hard go. Kudos to everybody who made the effort to attend and persevere-it sure wasn't easy.
 
Gord, FYI we didn't shoot on ICFRA targets (neither TR nor F-Class).

We used standard DCRA-1997 targets for TR.

For F-Class, we used DCRA-1997 targets, with a special "F-Class Patch" applied, which converted TR's dashed line v-bull into a solid line F-Class bull, and added a half-diameter castellated F-Class V-bull.

(ICFRA TR targets are a bit tighter than DCRA-97 TR targets. ICFRA F-Class targets are derived from ICFRA TR target done in the same "TR target with half-diameter V-bull" manner. I know that BCRA is using ICFRA targets for both TR and F-Class, so when you hear a BC'er report shooting a 50, you know he's done something even more difficult. And I have heard that the ORA is also shooting ICFRA targets, but I don't know for sure one way or the other)
 
P.S. _the_ thing that is most worth winning, in my estimation, is the Grand Agg. So by my reckoning, the best shooters at the 2009 Canadian Championships were Kelly Bachand (TR), Gord Ogg (F-Open), and Matt Wolf (F/Farq). Many other people won other matches, but if there are only three names that are worth mentioning, those are them. Well done guys.
 
The whole event was great. Glen and I made it home in one piece, left Ontrible right after the 900m at around 3 pm Saturday (were I managed to put 2 moa of wind on for my last shot, only problems was I turned it the wrong way LOL, bought myself a 1 instead of a 5 :( ) and drove straight thru, landing in Stoon Monday morning at 2 am, 35 hrs of non-stop driving and about 41 hrs for Glen to Leduc. Glen and I both say that is the last time we do a marathon drive like that, next time we will take the required extra days for driving.

Congrats to Gord, Matt and Leo. You guys are a great and friendly bunch and hope to see you again on the line one day. I met some great guys down there and some great shooters. Hope you recover soon Gord. I know what you mean Gord, I lost 10 lbs by Saturday, but managed to put it all back on by the time I got home, must have been 10 lbs of sweat eh.

Also congrats to you too Daniel on your win! Good shooting!!

Maybe next time I can put some good scores together for an agg. instead of spreading them all over the place.

Had a great time. Things are still a blur. Got home late..........or early depending on your perspective. Right back at it with a trip to Bonnyville yesterday. Reports up the ying yang.

Congratulations to all the winners, Leo. Gord, I hope your doing OK. Daniel, thanks. Matt, thanks. Bruce, thanks. Barry, thanks. Most of all, thanks to Betty Ann and Kathy for their tireless efforts. I think the new CFRC format is perfect. I just wish the competitor list could grow a bit. It's tough on two old guys carrying the F Class banner for the entire west.
