DCRA Results

I'm just glad no one got a pic of the misguided cart freewheel roller testing Keith and I conducted off of the firing point.
Bill, I had an engine / steering combination but she went back to her mummy.
Cheers, Glen

Hi Keith,
Unlike a lot of the US Benchrest results,I've not seen an equipment list on any Cdn match reults. Not a bad idea as I've always looked to see what others were using for ideas.
For Longrange Challenge used a Barnard/Shehane Tracker in 260AI modfd and
for the CFRC Agg matches , used my version of FMak Tube Gun also in the 260AI Modfd.
When Wolfgang and I were shooting together ,he was running a 284 with 180 bergers.
Not sure about the others.Maybe they'll add to the list.

Great meeting both you and Glen.Felt sorry for you fellas with that trip home.Glen told me when you were sleeping and he was driving ,he was able to get 20 winks in from time to time when the roads were straight.
Hope to be able to make this Central Canadian F Match if it can be set up.
Next year, WILL be wearing that cooling vest we talked about.
Gord

Keith, I'm so glad you came out and shot, I hope the overall experience was worth it. I am in awe of you guys from out West who make the drive.

(now about the equipment list - pout, what about us TR shooters? ;-) I shot a Musgrave, 30" MacLennan 1-13", .308 Obermayer chamber, and mostly Lapua 155s at mid-2900s using Varget, Lapua brass; thought I might be having ammo problems, so ended up firing Sierra 155s (old style) for the Gatineau 900m and the Gov's 800m and 900m).

It was nice to see a bunch of new Canadian F-Class faces this year, and to finally meet some for the first time and put names to faces.

Hi Daniel, yes I did not ask about your equipment since I figured all of you would be shooting 308's with 155's.

Can you tell us what you were doing in this pic, testing the winds with you toes?

Here's one of my and Glen's favs
IM006448.jpg

Speeding in Ont is like ordering off the menu at a diner....
We kept it only at 100 k/hr for the trip home, until we hit Man and some divided highways, then it was 119 k/hr

I was in F/F shooting a Rem 700, Rock barrel 11.25 twist using 155 Lapua Scenar Moly.
I have assked barry for his specs i know he was shooting a 6.5/47 lapua

Keith,
We believe in Ontario that this is just like posting rates on a Toll Highway in the states.
Gets exciting once you get 50 plus over the limit.
They actually reported catching someone (on a bike) doing 200 plus over the posted this year(must have been AFTER he stopped).
See and you womder how we can afford those gigantic beautiful potholes I know the rest of the Provinces are so jealous of.
Gord

Interesting Trev, you show as Open class in the LR Challenge matches.... not F/F

MCMACKEN,G TREVOR,MISSISSAUGA,ON 406 MMXAO

Here's Mario's as a sample only...
CHAREST,MARIO,MAGOG,QC 344 MMXAO

and Armen's in F/F
PAPAZYAN,ARMEN,NORTH SHORE,NS 345 MMXAF

The link for the •127th Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championships• has gone missing on the DCRA site for comp results too, replaced with NSCC service matches I guess???
Here it is if you need it... still exists on their server ...

HI Keith
I noticed the discrepancy as well on that weekend and they made the correction I came 3rd according to the website in F/F. they changed it on the Sat. #406 MMXAF

Here is Barry's in F/O
Left hand Barnard P (I think) action
28" True flight barrel - 1 in 8 twist
Shooting 130 gr Berger VLD's
Roberston stock
30 gr. Reloader 15
CCI small magnum primers
Sinclair Bypod
The whole outfit including bypod - 20.5 lbs.

Gord, we seen one sign that said 140 gets you a 10,000 buck screwing. Keith figures that if your going through one of them construction zones with the fines doubled, it would be 20,000. Ouch.........there goes new shoes for a bit.
Cheers, Glen

Glen's not kidding; look how tired he got between matches! ;-)
IMG_1990.JPG

He wouldn't dare do that at Chilliwack....he knows he'd be heading for the 600m Mound (and beyond) with Ian and I on the handle end.....LOL

Whats all that green stuff out there? We have stuff that looks reeaaalllllyy similar....but it's more of a golden brown color and not very comfy to shoot off.

Richard, when Keith and I had that set of "rollers" between relays we'd discussed running one at Chilliwack 600 next year. Looked good until Keith's cart was found to have a distinct design flaw in directional control. Freewheeled the rifle out onto that green stuff, so no "rollers" at Chilliwack.
Another thing about that green stuff, it had lots of gooey little left overs from goose and groundhog feeding frenzies. Almost impossible to see until you lay in it.

I still have to admire the TR types that hand carry all their kit from the extreme east end of "D" range to the next relay at the extreme west end of "A" range. It's got to be a mile at least. Tough bunch them!

Cheers, Glen

Looking at the results, the Lt Gen Milroy agg must be all wrong. It says...

DCRA 2009 CFRC THE LT. GEN. W.A. MILROY AGG 25 Aug 2009 16:19:36
consisting of MACDOUGALL 300 10 @ 300 M
BECKETT 300 10 @ 300 M
BRICK 500 10 @ 500 YDS
BECKETT 800 10 @ 800 M
ALEX. OF TUNIS 10 @ 900 M
PRESIDENT'S 500 10 @ 500 YDS
GIBSON 800 10 @ 800 M
PRESIDENT'S 600 10 @ 600 YDS
GIBSON 600 10 @ 600 YDS
GATINEAU 15 @ 900 M

PRIZE POS. NAME [HPS 250v50] NO. ATTR SCORE

By my math, the HPS should be 525v105 and the results should be...

Gord 509.044
Wolfgang 507.034
Leo 507.030
Glen 505.043
Marius 502.038
Barry 499.045
Keith 491.035
Bruce 491.030
Mario 489.034
Don 463.021
Norbert 395.017

Dale 486.033
Matt 484.035
James 472.027
Paul R 471.020
Armen 459.023
John 455.025
Colin 447.019
Claude 444.016
Robert 397.010

Now I'm at work and do not have the green booklet to confirm what is in this agg and it is not listed on the Personnal ScoreCard either so I really do not know how they get HPS of 250v50 for this.

There was a hiccup and it got overwrriten, but it's restored now http://dcra.ca/results.htm

You are not exaggerating the distance. The whole set of ranges is about twice as wide as they are deep. I spent a couple of years carrying a 20# F/Open rifle in one hand, and a 30# cast iron rest in the other. Not very bright, eh....?

(re: the green grass - it was unusually green and pleasant this year; many years, August in Ottawa is brown and dry).

Keith, re: the Milroy agg, it's a special beast; see the programme book (green book you got with your entry package), pg. 22, or online here . It's the "best-of" each range, i.e. the best of the two 300m ranges, the best of the two 500y ranges, etc. And for the 15-shot Gatineau 900m, only the first ten shots of that match are considered, vs. the 10 shots of the Tunis 900m.
