DD M4 rail tool?

I need to remove a DD M4 rail. It has a threaded ring that uses a proprietary wrench. Wolverine is out of stock on the tool but I'm not sure if I want to spend $23 on a one time use tool anyways.

Before I run out and buy a strap wrench, how secure are these rings once torqued on? Am I going to be wasting my time trying to get this off with a strap wrench?

If they're torqued to DD specs of 50 in/lbs, you might be able to get it off with a strap wrench. I just sold a spare one recently. I may have another. I'll check my rail boxes to see if I didn't already sell that one too.

Call Daniel Defense directly. Tell them what you need, and they will more than likely send it to you free of charge. For small odds and ends like a wrench or a couple of screws, they will look after you. Good people they are, as I have dealt with them a few times...

Yeah, they're pretty good. I bought an M4 rail from a retailer that was selling them 50% off on the EE.....It didn't come wight he index pins, I never heard back from the retailer when I Emailed them. I Emailed DD and they sent me a small bag of index pins. They're pretty awesome.
