DD sights vs Magpul MBUS

If you are using a non magnified optic; Aimpoint, Eotech, whatever, I really believe folding sights have no business being on your rifle. Fixed sights are generally more rugged, and they are always deployed. If your optic goes down, for whatever reason, you can transition to you sights almost instantly. You can use an absolute co-witness or lower 1/3 co-witness set up, which ever you prefer. There are many options for both sights and optic mounts that will give you whatever set up works best for you.

I would tend to disagree with you on this. Part of the benefit of an aimpoint or eotech is the almost completely unobstructed field of view. A constant co-witness ruins that, even if it's lower 1/3 (my personal preference). There is almost no situation that I can think of that you wouldn't have time to flip up 2 sights. Takes about 3 seconds.

Back up sights are just that; a back up. Sure, batteries can die, but not if you are doing your job and replacing them with fresh ones before hand.

I don't have any issues with fixed Troy BUIS and a Comp M2 in a lower-third mount on my 10.5". Put the dot on the target and pull the trigger.

Worked just fine tonight shooting in the dark.:)
