DDMK18 or Colt Canada MRR 11.5 inch... what's better?

I never wanted an AR until Colt Canada's IUR was released. As a VERY proud owner, all I can say is this: When I take it to the range it gets more ooooh and ahhh reactions than a lot of other AR's at the range.

There is a point of pride that goes with a Colt Canada purchase that is hard to quantify. You either have one, or you wish you had one :)

which one tickles your fancy? take it. they are both top shelf ar. I would take the 11.6 mrr just because it has better mv for not much more barrel. Both will serve you well for a long time.

Greentips got this right. I am forced to carry an IUR and it's just dumb. It's clumsly and slow, compared to a light DD or any brand of good basic AR. More and more of the guys I work with are figuring this out. Yes it looks cool. That's about it. If you can get a basic CC and price is the same, then there is more of an arguement that can be made as they are fantastic guns. They have more of a place, I would say, if you are looking for a DMR rifle, or had to mount a grenade launcher. The army guys I've shown it to think it's silly as well. If you are looking for a fun gun.... you'll soon get sick of the rails/forestock, but now you can't change them. Or the barrel without a stupid expensive tool.

I've argued this before and many will foo foo me because as you've seen above there's a lot of Canadian supporters here. I guess my best arguement would be if you could handle and shoot both and not know the brand.... I'm fairly sure most people would pick the DD simply as a weight/handling issue. Without being able to do that then at least handle both and compare them before you buy OP.

Larry, have you actually handled the IUR?
