DE .44 mag barrel and magazine

357 requires a bolt change. But, speaking from experience as someone who went from a 50AE setup gun to just putting the 44 barrel and magazine, it never ran right. The recoil springs need to be changed to make it run reliably. Lots of short stroking (and not in the good way).

Or a nice 44 mag revolver. Or a 44 Magnum Automag.

I facilitated the purchase of a .44 Automag from Wanstalls yesterday. It arrived in the store about 45 minutes before I did. I called my friend who is more of an Automag aficionado than I am. I hope to have it next weekend. It will be in my possession for a while. Lucky me!

Wanstalls staff was getting ready to list it here. Sorry guys, I couldn't let that happen. ;)

Do Automags actually show up very often? I figured it was pretty rare.

Hello,

Yes they are rare. The original ones are few and far between as the company went broke after about a year or so. Originally, every gun they sold, they LOST about $1000.00 as production costs were so high, but the owner wanted it to be priced lower. He thought that as production went up, the learning/productivity curve would kick in and bring the cost of manufacturing per unit down. Never happened. A few companies made versions of it in the same and different calibers over the years. 44 Automag ammo is a rare bird too. But I think there is a company or two making it. There is also a company making brass for it too.
