De-Bubba'ing my 42 Long Branch

Thanks for the kind words Riflechair, it just seems like the right thing to do. It would be a lot easier to just buy a complete No.4, (to be completely honest I prefer the looks of a No.1 so I'll have to get a complete one of those someday also).

As for the three screws I'm missing, I'm pretty sure they are BA thread, (h ttp://cgi.ebay.ca/ENFIELD-No-4-No-5-TAP-DIE-SET-303-BRITISH-SMLE-/140444918133? pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b32b6175#ht_500wt_1154), so anything I can get locally won't be correct.

I have been thinking about ordering some from Evan's Custom Screw but they would be about $18 a piece. Does anyone know if this price can be beat or if there is anyone on the forum that makes/has No.4 screws for sale?

Those are very common screws, no need to have em made. Have a look at Marstar's parts list.
Too bad, I don't think Springfield Sporters is allowed to ship here anymore.

Numrich is an option, although an expensive one.

Marstar, Epps and Numrich's websights all show sold out on those screws. I got the stock set and a rear sight from Epps and the front band, middle band and rear band from Numrich because Marstar and Epps where showing out of stock on those.

Numrich was pretty good to deal with once their "Canadian Specialist" was back from her week off. Did you know they have Swedish '96 stocks for like $36?!?! But no one seems to have those damn screws.

Canada never used brass butt plates, you want that black one in the pic or a zamak one like in my pics.

You sure about that? The Longbranch that I restored originally came with a brass buttplate, but the trapdoor was totally buggered up, so I replaced it with a dull grey steel one. I'm sure it was original, because the screws were worn almost smooth with practically no notches in them. The buttstock wood matched what was left of the forearm too, so I'm sure it wasn't replaced at some time in the past.
