That and a Long Branch Sten MKIIS

How do they go about shortening the receiver? And it looks like the bolt is shorter as well. It would take a real machinist do accomplish this methinks. None of my Red Green solutions. lol.

But how much fun would something like this be for shooting gophers?

Making a Delisle would not be at all easy. The gent on CGN who did a few non suppressed ones had the blueprints and a good set of technical abilities.

Easiest way to have a .45acp carbine is with one of the kits Obtunded brought in. (not sure if he can get any more- I think I saw that he said that was it).

They have a magazine conversion that takes .45 1911 magazines, a very slick setup.

There's also no extending of the barrel into the receiver or shortening of the bolt necessary. The magazine sits further forward than on the Delisle.

Might not look true to the design but it works well. I did find that you need to use round nose hardball though, no SWC ammo.

The receiver is not shortened, the barrel is extended rearward into the bolt way of the receiver. The bolt body then has to be shortened to accommodate this change.

Originals had the barrel further in the receiver. More difficult to make that way but historically accurate. Other way is to place the new barrel at same distance original barrel was. This avoids having to cut the bolt. Easier supposidly feeds better but not historically accurate. Atleast for first models of the gun. Dont know if later models were modified.

I love the suppressed browning .22 he made. Wish it was legal to make.

I think it would be easier to get a Spanish Destroyer Carbine and have it converted. #### anything you have to get from the States. Rhineland is not interested in Canadian sales.

The #4 conversions were really nice but i heard they were not without issues.

A few years back a forum member sold a Savage bolt action rifle he had converted to .45 ACP. Imo this probably would be the easiest dice roll as it is set up for easy barrel removal. It would just not have the military cachet of a #1 MKIII* conversion.

Getting 1911 magazines to work with your donor action might pose some challenges as well.

What would you like to know? I had one. One of the kits that were brought in, installed on a British Enfield.

It would not feed .45acp SWC ammo. As soon as I switched to 230 grain hardball, it was like butter. 100% function. You had to pull the bolt back smartly to get reliable ejection.

Not enough payola for such toys right now! :p

I think it would be quite practical to have though, although if I had to make one up from scratch, I would probably exceed the price of a Thureon Defence carbine easily - gunsmithing costs, barrel work costs, custom barrel costs.

The problem with having something like that is the temptation to sell it. You know this would be convertible to cash pretty readily, and therein lies the problem. :p

When you're used to holding and shooting .303's....45acp seems pretty wimpy in comparison.

Topic bump.

Seen some pictures of a Marlin 1894 converted to .45acp from .45 Colt. I think this might be a bit cheaper than building something from a donor bolt action, but think of the fun you would have with the extractor & lifter modifications! :p On the upside, you could end up with a reliable lever action with beaucoup rounds available in .45/08.

I've built a few 45 Enfields and a 44 mag. The rifles are easy to rebarrel, and the bolt face does not need to be modified for 45Acp, 45 LC, 45-70 or 44 mag.

I've still got a few...lots of fun to shoot...recoil and volume of a 22.

With one, I installed a finned Thompson barrel onto a No.4 Mk.1. Just had to make an adapter with Acme threads on the inside and 14TPI on the outside.

Yup!
Here's the Thompson barrel No.4 Mk.1
The barrel was one of the modern made Kahr ones, but the Cutts compensator is vintage

And here's one I built in 45LC...has a 22" 1.10" no taper Shillen CM barrel. You can hotload the 45LC to 44mag+p specs with a 300gr bullet...it's a target devastator!

Next rifle will be a 45-70 in full military stocks.
