i know this was discussed before but when it comes to making a prohib pistol restricted, its agreed upon that for pistols made prohib based on barrel length all thats needed to make it restricted is to install a longer barrel. I was wondering if we ever reached a conclusion on if it was possible to have a pistol prohibited by caliber made restricted? Say making a 32 acp ppk into a 22 flea?

thanks

In the past, .25 and .32 pistols had their calibres changed, and were reregistered as restricted. There are reports that this is no longer being done.
This is because of the wording of the law. A pistol designed for .25 and .32 cartridges is a prohibited pistol. The key word is designed. Doesn't matter what you do to it, it was designed for .25 or .32.
Call the CFP to clarify whether or not a 12(6) .25 or .32 can be reclassified as restricted if the calibre is changed (the barrel being over 105mm).
Get it in writing.

I posted this reply on another thread, but here it is again:

I spoke to a CFC technician and I asked about the .25 and .32 not being allowed to convert to a restricted caliber and they said that they did have that policy but it has been put on hold. Caliber changes from .25 and .32 to restricted are good to go.... for now.

I cry everytime I think about the original Glock 19 I was talked out of buying, by staff, just before C-68... the concern being that it'd be seized soon after and I'd be not compensated.f:P:2:

Give a call to barry of "bits of pieces" (google it) and see what he can do to it. He's used to the process and he's been refered to me very often when it comes to prohib to restricted conversion.

I don't cry at all. I fight back and I encourage other people to fight the system. I hear it all the time, "Why can't I own that ###?" My reply, "Because your government made you into a 2nd class citizen, who is your member of parliment?" Usually followed by "Why don't you know?" Usually followed by, "Then, you are part of the problem".

Any law made can be changed!
