i'm NOT WRONG on THIS SIDE OF THE BORDER- that's how members of the empire spell bourne- like NEIGHBOUR, YOUR SPELLCHECK IS AMERICAN BASED and therefore WRONG
go the the merriam-webster and look it up- it can be spelt with a "u" , as in bourne, borne, or born- apparently all three are correct- i alpologise( which is correctly spelt also)- i have a flash with the u in it- i'll see if i can locate it- that was back when the unit was based in EDMONTON- the good old days
The FN is probably the best choice, after all it was our rifle of choice for our armed forces. It doesnt matter too much which one gets de-prohibited first so long as it gets done. That will set into motion the idea that there are firearms on that list that dont belong there. The anti's will squeal like stuck effin pigs but anyone who doesnt buy there s**t will see our point. I support it and will write a letter.
IIRC the C1 and L1A1 were issued semi-auto only, but they could accept the FA sear. That, I'm sure, is why they were eventually prohibited.
Again, IIRC, the US made receivers for the FN-FAL cannot accept the FA parts unless the receiver is modified by a machinist.
As I understand it, this is not something you can do in your garage with a Dremel tool.
I carried the C1 way back in the day in the Artillery, and even though it was heavy, it was still a great rifle to shoot.
Hell, yes, I'd love to see the name FN-FAL removed from the prohib list so we could get the semi-auto only versions from the US.

The only " U " was in the 1st Canadian Parachute Batallion.
I would like to see the FN back in circulation as with the HK

I carried both the C1A1 and the C2 during my time in the artillery (3RCHA) in the early 80's, and got 10 days pack drill for converting my C1 to full auto. It took about 30 seconds to do. Never did fire live rounds though it,with the matchstick in place but did fire blanks. The big problem with the "matchstick conversion" is letting go of the trigger does not always stop the rifle from emptying the mag.
I would love to own one now. They were fun to shoot I used to "pull" one round of my groupings so I could stay out on the range rather then go back and bang my feet on a gun box. A guy could fire 100 or so rounds before the the range nco would start to threaten to not qualify me.
I will write a letter to help get this rifle off the prohibited list. Its been almost 30 years since I have fired one and it would be like being reunited with an old friend to fire one again.

In my opinion, we are chasing somthing that's not gonna happen. I will still write a letter, but I strongly relate it to this video, where the FAL is the guy running away, and gun owners are trying to chase it.

I must say, if it could happen I would love to own one. I haven't shot one since I was 12 and it kicked the #### out of me.
I could have a lot more fun with one now. They look and feel great from what I remember, shot like a champ. Nice heavy recoil (to a twelve year old!)
