I am interested in finding a qualified gunsmith in western Canada to dewat some of my 12.5's do any of you out there know where to go?

Don't dewat...other 12.5 buyers (me included) will save them for you

Agree.

Stop cutting firearms up and push for change in firearms calcification.
Dewat is the silent gun control.

i concede that to you. newer dewat don t have great feeling with bolt weld and mag weld. It is possible and legal to own and find old dewat(pre-2006) with moving bolt and mag removable..

This is true, I saw a pre-06 Dewat Norinco AK go for over 2000 last week on another site. I'd love to have that if it wasn't so expensive.

Mine is a 1950's Russian ishvek arsenal (arrow logo) vent in front, chunks from fore grip detachable mag Russian.

Mine's a 1968 Tula (Star logo) AKM. All welded up, even the mag is not detachable

Oh well, its the only AK I'll ever own, unless a miracle happens or I move to the US.

Well not sure about now. This was when they 1st came out and everyone wanted one.

About the cheapest I've seen any dewat AK go for is in the 800ish range.

I had a real AK-47, Type 2 milled receiver dewat from Izhevsk, laminate stocks, (not an AKM or AK74) that I sold last year on the EE. I BTT'd it about 10 times at $750 with no takers. It eventually went for $550. Like the current batch, it was not #### and click.

I have NO IDEA how the current retailer is moving any at the $1000 mark. I suspect most of the ones they sell are the "freebies" they ship with combo deals. YMMV.

Ya, some people are getting the AK74U's for free with $2k worth of ammo from Marstar and flipping them on the EE to help out with the bill. I don't think Marstar is selling many for $1300

Pretty sad this dewat business. It's like having a prized bull and having it castrated. Think it's well passed time to legalize AK variants and focus on more pressing issues like possibly getting Nickleback banned across the board.

But welded solid actions, nø removable magazines, etc isn't worth it to me. If I'm gonna buy a paperweight it has to look the part.

Well, we have to understand, if nothing is done, for class 12x (all prohib) it's the future.

AND, RCMP is more interested to destroy them than neutralised them.
