deactivated AK74

I'll never understand the RCMP rationale of changing dewat specs to disallow #### and click. They just had to take all of the fun out of owning a dewat didn't they.

I wonder how much the prices of these things would drop to if functioning (full auto disabled) AK variants were made non-restriced, given the number of these rifles circulating in the world?

The weight of the AK-74 is roughly 8 lbs. Considering scrap metal prices. It's worth $1.50... That's what I am willing to pay for a firearm that will never work. But that's just me. It's like buying an authentic "deactivated" $100,000 sports/luxury car. It looks great in your driveway and you can open the doors, sit in the seats, play with the switches and pretend to drive. But it will never drive. Just sit there to be viewed and fondled.

hey to each his own. the fellow I sold mine to was from a former combloc country and carried one. big reason he wanted it obviously. he was very happy to have it and gona make a display of it

Well, even a functioning Ak variant, what would that be worth in Canada if they were non-restricted? I'm guessing about the same as an SKS, but then again, I'm not really sure about the numbers of SKS in circulation versus AKs. I heard SKS are going for stupid prices in Australia or something, but I figure it's Canadian Law that's driving up prices of non-functioning units.

I want one for my gun room. Not quite sure what I'd pay though....

i guess I'll chalk it up to fine art! My wife has spent way more on things that hang on the wall and do #### all!

Well, I've always wanted an M16 with the 203 launcher as a wall-hanger, but I would never pay more than whatever an airsoft replica would cost, and even that's pushing it. I guess some folks want some sort of authenticity rather tha just appearance?

If you want a cheap replica then check out the SOF magazine. They sometimes run ads from a place that makes resin and metal replicas. A whole lot cheaper.

Last time I checked prices in Ukraine about 3 years ago semi-auto AKMS (not 47) were going for $800 on civil market. No limit on mag capacity also. Sometimes our Canadian "progressive" gun laws make me wonder what lawmakers were smoking.
Update: here's current prices:
AKS74U - $2000
AKMS - $777-925
SVD - $2100
