Deactivated Gewehr 98 Canada

I've done some searching around some Canadian dealers and have been unable to find a deactivated Gewehr 98 anywhere for any price. They're extremely easy to find in UK, but that doesn't help me much. It doesn't matter to me the country of origin, I'm simply looking for one at WW1 length with roller coaster sights. If anyone is aware of a Canadian dealer with one of these rifles (or if I should move this question to a specific thread), please reply/pm.

I'm also wondering if it's possible to pay a major dealer to ship a deactivated rifle into the country (as they have the paperwork), declare it as deactivated and then "sell" it to you with a premium for their time? This is similar to how buying guns online in the USA works.

If anyone has any answers please reply/PM. I'm new and still figuring this site out a bit.

It would work out cheaper in the long run to pick up a genuine Gew 98, give it a hug, take it to the range and shoot it, go home and hang it on the wall. If you are worried about the "dangerous GUN", pick up a spare firing-pin and grind off the tip: instant deactivation of a sort and you can reinstall your 'shooting' pin in less than 1 minute any time you want to take her out.

Yup...unless yo don't have a PAL.

OP, why must you need a butchered one?

Hmmm...starting to look like a tend of newbies asking about Dewats, I wonder where this is headed ?

This person should be allowed to post about dewats without negative comments. They should not be called broken or pitied by people who know nothing about them other than their wish to own a deacivated firearm.

@bogusiii
Prop work mostly. Definitely not using a live firearm while filming something.

Thanks dude. I get why deactivated weapons upset people but I have my reasons for wanting one.

Well stated 55recce. There are many people who are interested in dewats. The prices of some of these I find staggering. A historical item
of value is still collectable and sometimes can tell as a bit about markings, ownership, and in the case of a Gew98 possibly even the
regimental history. Who were the german units that faced Canadians at certain battles? Most of the Gew98s that exist in Canada are war
prized items brought back as trophies. Who faced Canadians at Vimy Ridge? Some Gew98s have regimental ID on the butt marking disc or FP takedown disc. The good thing about most people is that there is a valid curiosity about these old weapons whether they are deemed serviceable or not and I will always applaud that curiosity. I don't think that makes me 'broken'. JOHN

Don't judg'em'eh'wa me eh wa. How millennial. Yes I will call them out, if only because they want to destroy artefacts. Are you on the record approving that? Get the paperwork and play the game.

What do you want me to do? REactivate the gun? I can't change the fact that a weapon is already deactivated.

Legally speaking wouldn't I have to get it declared active and deactivated again?
