Deactivated SKS?

If I was 16 and unable to have a functional SKS, I would still love to have a de-activated one to display, field strip, and play with. One of the dealers here should be able to help you out. Good luck and welcome to the sport.
Tim

Except the modern deactivated standards will result in a gun that is welded up solid.

Keep buying airsofts while you are under 18. When you hit 18, get a PAL and get your SKS. Once you are 18, and have a license to own firearms, you will be in a much better position to ask your parents about owning guns under their roof.

Alternatively, stop buying airsofts and save that money for some real guns when you hit 18. It'll be a long two years, but when you hit 18 and can afford to get your SKS, and a shotgun, and a mosin nagant, plus some ammo for each of them, you'll be very happy you did.

Make friends with someone who has a PAL, save up and have them buy a working SKS (and a crate of ammo) now and keep it for you until you get your PAL and your own place or convince your parents to let you have guns in the house. Who knows what will/won't be available in a few years and at what price! (They will only go up or become unavailable)

And as far as your parents, education is the key, teach them what it takes to go get licenced and to own and shoot firearms, oh and make sure you act mature and responsible to keep them at ease. Tough as a 16 year old, LOL. but doable .

From the cfp website:

For Individuals aged 12 to 17

A Minors' Licence will enable young people to borrow a non-restricted rifle or shotgun for approved purposes such as hunting or target shooting. Generally, the minimum age is 12 years, but exceptions may be made for younger people who need to hunt to sustain themselves and their families. Applicants must have taken the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and passed the test.
Once a person turns 18, they are no longer eligible for a minor's licence. Instead, they must apply for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) and pay the applicable fee.

So Silly G - take the course, pass the test, get a minors license and you can legally borrow a legally owned Sks.

Gone are the days in the late 80's - early 90's when I would ride my bike from French Creek to the gravel pit near Cameron Lake to shoot with my Savage 22/20ga over my shoulder... I was definitely under 16 at the time or I would have driven my car.

I have seen a deactivated Chinese SKS, fully #### and click, and can be disassembled, with a weld in the chamber. Presumably this is very old dewat. Maybe at one point was a vet bring back from somewhere? I think the guy still has it.
