Deactivating a Couple Restricted

I am hoping for advice and guidance. I currently have a couple of Restricted firearms, both historical relics with more value as family heirlooms than as firearms. One is a S&W 455 that was carried by my my GG-Grandfather in the early days of law enforcement in Edmonton. It was later carried by one of his sons during WW2. The other is a 6mm Flobert saloon pistol. I am seriously thinking of deactivating them as I am fearful of future Trudeau politics and changes to our Restricted categories. I do not wish to lose these items in the event they are slated for confiscation. I would much rather shadow box these firearms with a few pics of their previous owners.

- So, who in Alberta is capable of performing the deactivation process without completely destroying the aesthetics of these firearms?

- Can the same gun plumber perform the verification process for the CFO?

- Any loopholes for which I should be prepared?

Any insights and experience in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to deactivate these heirlooms because you are afraid of something that the Trudeau government might (or might not) do at some unknown time in the future?
That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Don't deactivate anything. If that dark day comes where the government steals your property wait till the very last day to deactivate it. I only say wait till the last day because i assume they are registered so the commies know you have it. If you have any non-restricted guns don't even think of deactivating those.

No sense in killing your guns because it offends some one.

Nothing wrong with preplanning.
Get it all figured out but I would wait till the very very very last day before pulling the plug.

Your guns, your choice. If you would rather have them in as an inert display on the wall that's your call...............but I wouldn't do anything based on what Trudeau might or might not do.

I am not looking for advice on should I or should I not. Even if ammo was available, neither of these items are range plinkers. I see them having more value in a shadow box on display rather than locked in the vault.

Looking for real world advice on competent smiths that can do the job.

Here is the procedure for deactivating a revolver:
A rod is run through the barrel and cylinder, muzzle to breech.
It is welded securely at the muzzle.
It is welded securely at the cylinder/barrel breech. Note that the rod is internal; this complicates the welding.
The rod must be securely welded at the breech. Note that the rod is entirely internal at the breech face; this also complicates the welding. Because some of the welding has to be external, you will have only one intact display side.

Is there a chance they could be antique status? If so, they would no longer legally be firearms and I think they can be displayed without being locked. Even if the are restricted there are ways to display them without deactivating.

A gunsmith approved by the CFP to do deactivations will be able to do the paperwork.
Maybe you could call your CFO in Edmonton and ask for a list of businesses approved to do deactivations. They should know - they issue the business licences.

I was told by the CFO that it would have to have the mag pocket every hole into the lower welded if it had an upper a barrel would have to be installed a rod welded into it everything welded they went as far as to tell me that I would have to buy a upper for any AR platform. I wanted to deactivate for a handgun don't have to have upper and barrel and everything welded
