Well, I finally broke down and bought my first norc. It is a jw-15a compact, also known as the jw-15a hiker, or jw-15a 13.

Right now Canadian Tire in Fredericton on Smythe street has them for 179.99 + tax.

Im still in the process of cleaning of the cosmo, but I'll take it out this weekend and give a little review on the rifle. I figure it will be a nice little project gun. I want to replace the iron sights (knock and post, the rear sight is a cheap piece of tin) with some fiber ones.

They're fun little plinkers (have one myself). IMO you're better off mounting a light fixed powered scope. The short sight radius of the irons doesn't do it justice…..

Congrats on the acquisition! I have one as well. when I saw it at my lgs I had to have it.no firearms from Cambodian tire here..although I think I paid 199... Magazine (eek, don't hate) is interchangeable with my cz as a bonus. Fun little piece and great for young shooters too! Took awhile to smooth the action out and it's a little sloppy now, but quick. I would also recommend mounting some glass as well, always nice to see what you are hitting.

$179? ...That's a heck of a deal....and the thing about Norinco's is when a model sells out,it's often gone.( I hesitated of the JW21 94/22 knockoff and they aren't being restocked) I paid $209 for my 'Hiker' locally and was glad to get it.The JW15 series are all copies of the BRNO and while not as finely finished, shoot just as well. The only complaint on the short barreled one is the short sighting plane, but I put a 4xBushnel rimfire scope on it ,which I have to do anyway and use it for a grouse gun. They do 'crack' a bit louder than the longer barrel, but I shoot 'quiet' 22 shells anyway

Which mags are interchangeable, the cz 455 ones? I plan on putting a little scope on there, I thought it would be a neat project to put fiber sights on for the heck of it.
