Dealer interest in Prvi Partizan ammunition?

I just got off the phone awhile ago with a gent at Bell Lifestyle Products Inc. (the Canadian importer of Prvi Partizan ammo.)

I was inquiring if they had any .303 British and 7.92x57mm in stock and if they sold to individuals. Unfortunately, they are sold out of both calibers; and they only sell to dealers.

I was informed they would not be importing any more ammunition until they are sold out of their present stock (it could be up to a year.)

However, I am not content to just sit back and twiddle my thumbs waiting for that far off day to arrive. I told the fellow I would put out some feelers on this forum and with the dealers I know around Vancouver.

Prvi Partizan seems to be a respected brand that is less expensive than their counterpart’s ammunition. I would hope to pair this ammo to a market where there is a demand for it; and clear the way for another container shipment of a better selection of calibers.

Cheers!:)

I don't thing they would have a problem moving the military calibers, but the .243 and .22-250, how many hunters have ever bought a case of ammo. Most hunters I know think I am nuts when I buy ammo by the case.

But the thing that make me boil is the attitude of the importer. "I am not getting anything new till all the old is all gone!"

Well maybe nobody wants the old stuff.

What the hell is the matter with "Importers of ammo in this country"

In the US, European ammo is cheaper then Domestic brands in a given caliber

Here, seems to be the other way around. And you ask why, you are told because it had to cross an ocean. It had to for the US also:mad:

You Importes listening? Stop trying to sell me stuff I don't want, and bring in ammo I do want.

I'll go take a cold shower now;)

Well, my apologies for wasting everyone’s time with this thread. I’ve found out today that Bell is no longer listed as an importer for Prvi Partizan.

Prvi lists their international dealers here: http://www.prvipartizan.com/dealers.php

Could it be they just weren’t any good at marketing the product line? Hmmm…I wonder?

It looks like for the time being we don’t have a source for their ammunition. It is too bad, as from what I’ve read they seem to be a respected brand for a reasonable cost. They load their 7.92x57mm & 7x57mm Mauser cartridges to European pressures (instead of the watered down versions we are stuck with from North American ammunition companies.) Their .303 British looks good too, as they have a traditional 174 gr. FMJ military loading (as well as 150 & 180 gr. SP hunting loads.)

I checked out their website and they have an extensive assortment of calibers and loadings (they even have a loading for 7.92x33mm Kurz.) They seem like they could satisfy most milsurp collectors, hunters, and even target shooters who aren’t set up to reload (such as myself.)

I’m hoping someone else will step up and market their line. Anyone?

You did not waist time, instead you have pointed out something that needs to be addressed in this country.

PPU's web page shows 4 US importers. Canada 0

Fiocchi's page shows several dealers/distributors in every state in the union, Canada 1

Sellier and bellot's Canadian importer is North Sylva Co, E-mail: nsc@northsylva.com Don't expect a reply if you write them.

Something has to change in this country or shooting is going to die a slow death.

You won't continue to buy cars if there is no gas no matter what the cost.

Reloading is not the answer. Reloading is only a band aid solution. No brass no reloads. And not everybody wants to reload. And it's nice to be able to buy a 1000 rounds of what ever and to be a slave to the reloading bench.

We got the Conservatives elected, we can fix this problem, we have to lite a fire under someone's ass

back to the showers:D

Hi

Lists can be changed

Conservatives are in power, we need to get them to have the departments in charge, change the regulations. It's not parlementary laws, it's regulations. It's an easy fix. We need to Identify the target, and drown the responsible minister and our elected cpc members with letters and emails demanding improvements.

get some 223 , 308 and 9mm in an you will not keep up whit demand... stuck whit 7x57mm... no #### bring in 5.56mm and STFU

I picked up a couple of boxes of PP in 9.3x62 ($25/) and it shot great. It was better than the Norma ($50) and RWS ($100). My friend picked some up in 6.5x55 ($12) and it drives tacks out of his Swede.

I have used their 380ACP ammo and quite like it. I woulds love to see someone sell 7.62x54R and their 5.56 loadings and some good quality well priced 7.62x39mm brass cased ammo.

If I was loaded, I think I'd get the proper licenses and import two containers loaded with cases of various calibers.

Knowing what a packrat I am, I'd probably end up selling the contents of one and using the rest for myself!:D

Maplesugar, So what would it take (how much would have to be bought and shiped here) to qualify as a Privi dealer?
Find that out and you have 1/2 of the info you need to shop around to dealers, or think about forming some sort of partnership to be the importer for BC.

Hi Splatter!

Thanks for the reminder. It is definitely something I've thought about before.

I might just look into it. But I don't think I could offer a better service than Curese or CanAm as they are already established.

CanAm I only know by reputation. Curese I used to work with.......he is top notch.

Hopefully, soon we all be enjoying some quality fodder for our milsurps.:)

Take care!

How do you think they got established?
And wouldn't a big part of providing better service be having product?

I just thought though, probably the real first step would be touching base with NRCan, I note there are several Privi calibres on the big approved ammo list, which probably means that there are more calibres; but probably not their whole line. It would suck to be like Marstar and import several million rounds of ammo that can't be sold in Canada.
It takes about a year to get ammo approved, so only import the absolute minimum to get tested of those calibres.

And write your MP to get them to stop the foolishness of the "approved ammo".

forget rare caliber bring in 5.56 and 308 it will sell so fast it will make your head spin

Yes and no! .223 and .308 will move fast, but you could bring in .303 Brit, 8mm Mauser, 6.5X55 swede, and move it fast if your prices are as good as they are in the US. Any military caliber will move.

The owner of Marstar has told me that he is in nagotiations with a major European manufacture of Ammunition. He won't say which one. I did ask if it was NNY and he jestured as if it was NOT. These negotiations have been going on for over a year:rolleyes:

By looking at my range floor, I can tell for sure, that 223, 308, 30-06, 303 brit, 30-30 for the long guns and 9mm luger and 40SW for the handguns are the calibres most used in the order listed.

For every 100 of 223 there is 80 of 308, maybe 50 of 30-06 and 30 enfields.

Important disclamer: this is about brass. There is probably 30% more steel casings in 7.62x39 on the floor, than all brass combined and practically no brass in that calibre. The SKS folks are blasting away.
