hey everyone, i am the owner of a local firearms store in chicoutimi ( Quebec) and one of my customers wants 4x AYA shotgun, the only distributor is BILOZIR in alberta.

my point is, is it reliable to buy 20 000.00$ of firearms from this distributor and to pay him 50% (10 000.00) deposit up front, I've never heard of them before and I want to know if any of you might have made buisness with them in the past. it's a lot of money and I want to be sure before paying.

also they are selling, firearms, apparels and potatoes..

Generally, a distributor would not require a deposit, that is why they have distributors, rather than dealing direct with the manufacturer.

Yes, W. Bilozir is the Canadian distributor. AFAIK, you have no choice but to go through his distributorship. Your only other option is to purchase through US distribution or directly from AYA. Going through the US distributor probably won't cost any more than through Canadian distribution, even with export/import costs (in fact, likely less), but you have the added hassle and cost of returning the gun to the US for any warranty issues. Same problem with going straight to the factory.

First of all, I hope you will understand that no offence in any manner is intended via my thoughts in response to your post. Having said that, in your position, I would attempt my best to steer the customer in an approriate direction in terms of the subject under discussion.

Is the customer fully aware of what exactly he/she may be ordering? What exactly is a "4x" AYA?

Has the buyer already pre-determined appropriate gun fit (specific to the individual in question) from a perspective of such specific shotgun specimen in mind? $20k may not be a very high amount to a lot of people but it may still be a substantial figure to spend on a shotgun when acquired unseen/unhandled!

my customer is unfortunately aware of what he's buying, he already own a few of these shotguns and he wants four (4 x) aya shotgun Model N 4/53, identical matched pair. he's a pheasant hunting outfitter and require these very specific shotguns for his customers,

my point is still about the fact that the distributor requires 50% deposit, is it safe, who knows?

You might be able to spend less, get quicker delivery, nicer wood by ordering a Chapuis. And, since they make big game African guns on the action, it won't shoot loose. I don't know of anyone in N.A. or Europe that has had any issues with the Chapuis.

Yes I own one, have one in the build and I have been to the plant several times. I have some Americans that have bought recently both the SxS and O/U with no regret. I do know the family since the early 80s.

can't get him a chapuis, he's specific about what he wants. that's why I'm forced to deal with bilozir. we already do business with Gravel agency, they don't require deposit when ordering.

Forgive me if I came across as somewhat blunt with my questions previously....it did occur to me afterwards that you may have been actually looking for a number of shotguns.

As far as the Distributor is concerned, I've noticed that forum members here carry mixed impressions relevant to customer service issues.....
 
For a special order like that , If I place a special order like that for
4 high end shot guns ( high end to me:D) I would want a good deposite
before I ordered them.
I know of the people you speek of and seem like nice people, see them at the western gun shows, but I have not ordered from them, but almost couple of time when I fondle some of the .28ga he has.

Don't know the "distributor" but unless things have changed in the last few years there are no exclusive distribtors for AyA anywhere. They'll sell guns to anyone.

When ordering a custom gun it's not unusual to have the maker demand a 50 per cent deposit. Bilzoir likely needs the deposit because AyA requries it particularly if these are guns with custom specifications.

If what's being ordered are standard production AyA 4/53 I might contact Cabelas Canada and see if they can get some of their U.S. guns into the country. AyA 4/53 are selling for around $4,000USD at Cabela's in the U.S.

You could go directly to AyA but I wouldn't recommend it because you are ordering the guns for someone else. I've ordered a gun directly from Spain (not AyA) and IMO there's too much risk of you being caught in the middle if there's a problem.
 
I think a 50% deposit is kind of steep! I could see a 25% non refundable to help offset losses if you fell threw on completeing the deal, why not import them yourself or get Clay at Prophet River to help you out? just a few suggestions, you could even talk to John at Tradex, he is closest to you, he imports pretty much everything from Europe!cheers dale Z
 
dealer reliability

A Canadian dealer should be able to buy direct from the US distributor and import it through Prophet River. Around $200.00 + ship charges. A standard 4/53 is no big deal -- If your customer needs stock adjustments made then there's some excellent gun fitters in Canada.
