I'm a fan of the classic look of the 1873 Peacemaker. I know Pietta, Uberti, and a few others make them, but until recently I didn't know that some have exchangable chambers in 45acp to go along with the original 45 Long Colt. I tried typing in things like 'Cattleman 45acp Canada' into google, but I either find standard 45LC with no acp chambers, or 45acp pistols that have nothing to do with an 1873 Peacemaker re-make.

Is anyone aware of a Canadian dealer that stocks either an 1873 SAA that comes with exchangable chambers, or a source for the chambers at least?
And I'm not talking about the Ruger Vaquero. (They're nice revolvers, but not close enough to what I was hoping for)

Thanks, Al

.... which is apparently flopping badly. Sadly the guy that owns USFA is apparently a flake that shoots off in new directions more often than the rest of us change our underwear. Sad too since the USFA single action revolver was by all accounts a fantastic piece of work.

Al, the gun you want is the Ruger Convertable. They come in a version which takes .45Colt with one cylinder and a second cylinder you swap in to take the .45ACP. Yes it comes with BOTH cylinders. You don't need to buy one after the fact.

Pietta and the rest don't make a convertable of this sort which is why you didn't have any luck with your searching.

The suppy of Ruger firearms is pretty spotty at the moment due to Ruger being something like a year behind on orders thanks to the panic buying situation in the US. But that's the one you're after. You might simply need to be patient. In the meantime email all the gun shops shown at the top of the page and ask for one.

Ruger .45 convertable

Ruger is tough, fun & affordable! I highly recommend them....

Best of all, with the .45 colt cylinder, they can take the heavier loads....
Real men shoot Rugers!:p

I purchased these at Wholesale Sports about 5 yrs ago....

S&W make the 625. It is rare and expensive and only made in prob. bbl. length in USA now. A used one can run $1100 pretty easily. It only shoots .45ACP using moon clips. The moon clips are hard to load and harder to unload so a PITA compared the the Ruger. I have two other Rugers and they are easier, but slower. Get a Ruger for half the $$ and be happy.

I wasn't aware of any convertable pistol other than the Blackhawk. If the OP is willing to deviate from the traditional SAA style a bit, I'd recommend this one. Not a 100% accurate repro but who ever said "I don't like a Blackhawk"? Prophet River had some nice looking ones for a while, wish I hadn't sat on the fence for so long.
