dealing with roadhunters

If I drive by a farm and have permission to hunt there, see some deer in the field,I am going to make my moves to get one of those deer.
To drive by and go to a hunting area you were originally going to and not try for the deer is as stupid as it gets.

When you see deer in the field, you have to scare them away to hunt that farm???
Is there a time limit on being outside you vehicle before you can shoot at the deer?
Do you leave them and hunt there another day?
Road Hunting is illegally shooting from the road.

And under Manitoba law that would be illegal. Do you have trouble with the English language or just too much time on your hands ????

It doesn't have to make sense, it's a government regulation. Let it go.

Just curious what is illegal about it?

My previous post;

This is the regulation in Manitoba:

"It is illegal to hunt from a vehicle. For example, a vehicle may not be used to search for, locate, "push bush" or to flush out game under any circumstances. Vehicles may only be used to transport hunters, supplies or equipment to or from a hunting area. In most, but not all areas, vehicles may be used to retrieve a big game kill by the most direct route."

So my hunting area just became the field the deer are in. My vehicle transported me there. I don't see the problem.

Bearkilr why are you so angry???I do it day in and day out for 28 years or so.
Were I hunt you cant get more than a 1/2 mile from any road.
I never said it was not illegal,I just feel that perhaps it is not as black and white as that.
Why the personal insults?
Please post all of my post in future thank you.
Sheephunter and I have had a few lively discussion with out the name calling I believe we can too.
Sheep hunter we are agree again??I will post something stupid so we can go at it again.

Let's say DNR has a decoy deer set up on crown land off a highway. You come driving along, see the deer, stop, get out of the vehicle, load your gun, sneak through the ditch onto the bank where it's legal to shoot from and fire.
They will charge you with hunting from a vehicle since everything else you were doing is legal.

Crowca- Sorry if you took offense and maybe I was a bit harsh, but I deal with roadhunters all season long on my land. It gets very annoying when you've been sitting in a stand for several hours and some morons drive by and stop, scaring all the deer when they know they don't have permission to hunt that field anyway.

If I have permission to hunt that field I would not load my gun on the road or be stupid enough to shoot a decoy.
If it was a real deer I would shoot it.
What is the time limit from the time you shut off your truck till you can shoot?10 seconds 10 minutes 10 hours.
If I walk 1/2 way in to the deer is that far enough?
I would take my chances in court as all farms were I have permission are my hunting area, and driving to them is the only way I can get there.

Must be a Manitoba thing then...you wouldn't get charged in Ont.

You would have to prove to the courts that you were intending to hunt that field and that you regularily park your truck along the highway in that spot opposite to where the big fake buck is and then always sneak through the ditch and this deer just happened to be there. Of course this would all be on video tape, as they hide across the road in the opposite ditch. :D

Trespassing is a big problem and I feel for you situation.
I would post a sign that says something like this.
Land owner is hunting deer on this property, please respect by not trespassing. When sign is removed please come to house to get permission to hunt.
Put the sign up a month before hunting season and leave it up till it is over.Than remove it for the winter.
No one will come to the house for permission and most hunters will respect you as you are one of them.
Might not work just my thoughts.
Had A farmer everyone wanted to hunt there he never said no he just said you are number 17 if you want to go ahead. Most did not bother but the ones that did realized there was nobody there hunting.

bearkilr I said I would not be stupid enough to shoot the decoy. That might be the first time I have hunted the farm?
Do you have to hunt a farm how many times before you can shoot something.
If I put my gun over the hood of a truck look through the scope at the decoy, the gun is unloaded there is d idly they can do.
I am just looking at the deer with my scope.

all you need to be is 15ft off the road when you are on "maintained roads"
300ft from hiways
i think 1km from a house
if the road/ trail is not maintained then you need to be 3ft the the road side
thats if its crown land

you can be 3ft from a runing truck!!

the odd times that i see deer when i am driveing , i get out walk close to them (say i see them 250-350 yards a way , ill walk till i am closed to them say 150-250 so i was still 100yards away from my truck..) off the road by 5-10ft

My understanding is that it's difficult to get a conviction under the "hunting from a vehicle" regulation. It's just one more they usually tack on if there are numerous charges. The courts will throw some out, and try to make the more severe ones stick. The idea is that the more charges against you, the more likely you will get convicted on at least a couple.

the co are not that bad to deal with , most of the time they will give you one fine ($500.00) and take your gun seeing they have to when they give you a fine ,

you will get your gun back after you pay the fine (takes 30-40 days)

when i was talking to one befor , a deer walked out 150-170 yards from us in bp he told me to go nuts, so i got out and try my best , but missed , i was 4 ft from my runing truck and off the road , (door on my truck still open)
