Dearth of 7.62 x 51

The UN is useless and should have been put to bed years ago

:D
The UN is just a group of international busy bodies sticking their noses in the internal affairs of sovereign nations & promoting the global domination & civilian disarmament agenda of George Soros & tin pot dictatorships.

The UN has proven that their ostensible mission of assisting nations & peoples in trouble is a hollow ruse in situations like the mass genocides in Rwanda a few years ago where they abandoned thousand to the machetes of organized gangs of killers.

The problem stems from the fact that X51 comes from countries that don't need the money from selling surplus. Combloc calibres often come from countries who do need the money.

Yeah, 16K still gets you a serious flight in a frontline Sukoi piloted by one of the best Russian test pilots around.

Kind of shocking that on one side of the fence is a customer that sees 16K as not that much to disable the AOA limiter, and pullback into the Cobra, and on the other side is the best and brightest a well armed nation can offer trying to get some hours.

On the x51 front, I think the best we can home for is another set of norinco-type "newly manufactured" ammo at 50c per.

IIRC, many were only able to take their shoes with them (other asssets had to be left behind)...:(

My SA friends were either forced off their land and homes by mobs or left after years of fighting with the SADF.

On the topic of 7.62 NATO rounds, I think you got your answer. Wars tend to do things like use loads of ammo. So more about SA and HORRAY for hijacked threads! :D

The fact that a war is going on is a big reason why you can't find this surplus ammo, and also the statistic (can't find the source) that 5000 rounds are fired for 1 killed enemy. Thats a heck of a lot of ammo.

Just wait, though, for when the stuff from these wars all becomes surplus, sometime in the future? ;)

If this war ever does end. It just seems to relocate from time to time. SMH

The War on Terror is a neverending self sustaining conflice.

Everyone is a terrorist according to Homeland Security in the US.

Gotta reload if you're gonna shoot seriously.

I agree, but if you can find a large lot of Ammo for sale you can usually get a great deal on it, Just not every one has 3 or 4K they can drop on that sort of purchase.

7.62 x 51 has sort of gone the way of 30.06 in the Vietnam war era, where 7.62 NATO took over as the primary battle rifle cartridge, while 30.06 was still used as a machine gun and sniper rifle cartridge. We'll probably see more 7.62 in the future, but after things have settled down in the world.

I read that 30.06 and other similar cartridges were next to impossible to find during WWI and WWII for the same reason.

me shooting 2 boxes of 200rnds last week outside kandahar might have something to do with the shortage.. oh along with all the other isaf members shooting moving targets day and night.... i wonder if they use 7.62x51 in other conflicts around the world??? of wait yes they do... that might have something to do with that
