using some software and google earth and i think that the Hluey Lakes area just a few clicks south of the town of dease lake might be good anyone have any exp. and luck in this area and if so what time of the season is the best

Dease Lake area=lots of natives=lots of 12 month of the year native hunting=a good place to go moose hunting?

At one time the Nation River and lakes was great for moose. Early enough in the season that they were still eating lilly pad roots.
Don't have a clue what it would be like now.

AFAIK, Hluey Lakes is NOT accessible by vehicle or quad, even though there is a road right up to the lakes. The road is private and locked (not sure if this has changed). You could mountain bike in if you wanted, but getting a moose out would be brutal. The only option is to fly in.

I was there about 8 years ago and that was the situation. It may have changed.

Are you looking at flying in somewhere, or are you limited to a road access hunt? If you are willing to fly, send me a pm and I can suggest a few spots.

Cheers.

the natives up there spoiled our trip last year were it went to the point that we were geting threats what do you do when you are outnumberd4 to 1 + you r not hunting no more you have to post gaurds around the clock the rcmp and i quote said we r not touching this situation and the c o wouldent answer the door at his office it still leves a vary bad taste in my mouth

A good friend of mine had his brand new very expensive super swampers slashed while he was out for a hike hunting up near dease lake last year, the behavior of the natives in the area is unacceptable yet when my friend contacted the rcmp they never sent anyone out to deal with the situation.

i think ill find a diff area to hunt and spend my money but its a problem where ever theres natives it seems i was hunting last year camping in a RV and heard a gun shot but 4 hours after sundown and then like 15 seconds later a pit lamp went over the rv who knows where those donkeys where shotting btw it was gitnyow natives area

We had the same thing; RCMP flatly refused to do anything about it. That is unless you retaliated....then they were prepared to bring down the full weight of the law.....on you for trying to defend yourself.

Hummm... Never ever had that problem around there. Me and a group of guys have hunted the telegraph mountain area for 30 years. Maybe it had something to do with the 6-8 dogs that would bite your face off if you came near our camp.... Or the fact that you had to be nuts to get to where we camp...
