Well.............

After watching the video of my 3 gun match stage in which my .45 died I think I have a diagnosis.

OVER CHARGE!!

You can see a HUGE ball of flames shoot out on my 4th shot...

I thought it died on the fifth shot as the recoil was NUTS!

As it was my barrel chamber must have blown out on my 4th shot...

Thus it was jammed tight when I tried my fifth shot. The Side was only able to come back about 3/4 of an inch so the spring did not take any of the forces...

Anyway............at least it was caught on tape.

I love the part where I say "that aint good" after trying to Slam the slide back and finding it did not move at all.

Its a Springfield 1911NM......

The barrel is not original..........I blew the lugs off it years ago at about 10k rounds.

This barrel was used and I would put it at 6k that I have put through it.

Looking at the barrel you cannot see much of a bulge......but it is certainly there.

The loads I was using were made on my Lee 1000. I have since moved to a Hornady LNL

From the video, other then the large flash non the 4th, it looks like the recoil was stronger/different on the 5th shot.

Yes the 5th had more recoil...........as I suggested I think that the barrel was already jammed as a result of the 4th shot. Thus it did not allow the side to function in absorbing some of the recoil.

"that ain't good" should get an award for understatement in the face of adversity! Glad to ear nothing/no one other than the barrel were damaged.
