I mean maybe next year I will be able to tell a story like you did and show a pic like you.

Doesn't the season start March 31st to April 31st?

Congrats Mark. What are the specs on that bad boy?
Hey thanks Paul... that bird was nothing like the bird I saw your guys with:eek: mine was just a two year old... 19.5 lbs, 7 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs.
I only hunted the crappy weather in the morning... I left to put in a couple of hours at work and Darryl and Erin had a shootemup.
Saw two nice two year old Gobblers and a Jake with a couple of hens today, but they would not come to the call or the Decoys. We pulled and ran and managed to cut them off but they were spooked by the Pretty boy decoy and would not come in close enough for a good shot. Big Tom Decoys will sometimes spook lesser birds.;)
The weather is supposed to be warming and sunny for the rest of the week here... should be some good turkey right up until the weekend.:)

NICE bird!!

I did the same opening afternoon.
All I was doing is headding into the camp to get things ready to go out Wed morning and took the 10ga with me for the h@ll of it and on the way walking in to the camp to put wood inside for that night I saw 5 turkey and I could not let the biggest one go, so yes you guessed it up with the Browning and BOOM!!! down it went and up it got and ran, BOOM!! down he goes again and that's where he stayed till I got to him to pick him up.

21 Lbs
8.5 inches for the bearded
NO Spurs

I had a buddy with me he had his tag with him, but no gun and Yes we filled his tag with a nice 14 lbs jake.
Not bad for just walking into the camp.
Sorry no pics of the jake as it was hit pritty bad, but do have pics of the tom. Just tell me how to post them.

Wow, been away from the puter for a few days, so let me tell you of the day we had. Get out well before light, and set up on Redd's property with Devilsedge. (who still hasnt emailed me the pics yet:))
We had 5 gobblers firing up around us, but all a distance away. So i kept em going until we heard two shots about 30 seconds apart some ways down the field. (on a property we cant hunt, but we call the birds in from there anyways:)) Long story short, someone got some birds, and it wasnt us. The rain started minutes after that, and we didnt hear a peep after that, except REDD's shot:). So we all headed in for a bit, but ended up hanging in at Redd's place until about 10:20 when we headed back in. We got set up, and not 10 minutes in the weather broke. Aaron looks at me, and says, "there is a dog in the field". Sure enough, I caught a glimse of the yote heading across the field, so I dropped the boxcall, (Might I add, we had a bunch of birds gobbling around us at this time) and pulled out my rabbit distress call, and lit it up a few times. I went back to the boxcall, because i couldnt see the dog. A minute later, all i hear is "Bang". And out of the corner of my eye, I see the dog flattened in our decoys. I didnt have a clear view of his setup as we were sitting in opposite directions. Aaron jumped up, pulled the dog in behind a stump, and set the decoys back up. All the while, birds are gobbling all around us. Not 10 or so minutes later, I see a great big white head coming out of the opposite bush. In came the Tom, and the Jake to my decoy on my side. I had to shoot through a bit of grass to get him, and it opened up my pattern a bit. He didnt make it to the edge of the field, but he needed a few follow ups. Aarons bird on the other hand, folded like a two dollar suitcase. It jumped up, and extended his neck, and did a backflip out of the air. It was a cool hunt. Im two birds in two tries at that spot.
I think I found a honey hole;).

And Paul beasley and his buddies pulled in to Accuracy with a truckload of gobblers and one beast of a turkey...

Geeze up in this contry I'm really thrilled this year to have seen a couple turkeys!

Is that one small assed coyote or is just the pic???

Hey REDD you hang around them youngens to carry your game out :D

The yote was exactly 42.3 lbs on the same scale as our turkeys in his summer fir. We're not small guys.:)
And hell yeah, I've carried out a bird or two for redd. Small price to pay dont you think;)

I got my first wild turkey yesterday. Tuesday was the pits, freezing cold wind off Lake Huron, icy rain, even a bit of snow. I didnt see one all day until late when we scared two hens into the air from a juniper bush field edge type of cover.

Back to that spot the next morning at a leisurely time and got out of the car in the farm field. Saw some turkeys in the distance at the junction of the four fields. its too long a story to post here, but suffice to say that I crawled and walked on all fours a long, long way to get up near a tom that was paying too much attention to a hen. i couldnt call him in, so I thought, what the heck I have nothing to lose, maybe I can sneak within range. I actually got to use my infantry training and leopard crawled a good distance up behind a fallen tree to within long range. I think the wind moving all the foliage around probably helped. Anyway, it was a nice 23.5 lb tom, just over 70 points.

Guys wife, Helene shot a really nice two year old this morning... gobblers were going off in all directions. I will post the details and a picture if I get one.

Chilly scores on a nice Tom.... 8 1/2 inch Beard and 7/8th inch spurs.
I set Guy and Dean up on opposite sides of the Roost bush and did a Bump and Push right before they flew down. Three birds flew over Deans head and landed about 100yards away... he called steady for about 10 minutes and finally hit the right call and it turned them on like a switch.
Two Toms started gobbling and came to his decoy on the trot.
Then right at about 45 yards out somebody shot off in the distance and they stopped cold.
I was watching the whole thing from about 200 yards up the ridge... the lead Tom lifted his head and I was thinking to myself that bird is gonna do the roadrunner right now... He rolled over backwards and then I heard the earth-shattering Ka-Boom!
Very cool to watch the whole shabang with the sun coming up and everything so still and quiet.
Still a pile of birds around and maybe Guy will get lucky before too long.
Five birds down in five days all within shouting distance of the house.

Very impressed with that Gobblin Thunder .655 choke! Did a real number on that tom stoppin him cold and dropping him right now. The report of the shot was also impressive according to Redd. All in all a great day with great friends. Thanks again fellas.

5 birds in 5 days... And thats without starting the truck:)
No Monsters yet, but all pretty good birds.
You cant beat that...

You'll never have them figured out...haven't you learned that yet? You can only figure on what he might do next...stay tuned! I'm out tomorrow after work for #2. The weather has been nice and stable and the evenings have been fairly warm so should help out with patterning birds. I'm sure mid day they will be heading for shade and around 5:30 looking for dinner...which is when I intend on treating them to the lovely sound of the Gobblin Thunder!

Tail feathers look too even for a Jake Rob... what kind of spurs and beard did he have? Congrats on the bird.

Guy thumped a 19 pounder with 3/4 spurs and an 8 inch beard yesterday... this 12 pound hen with an 8 1/2 inch beard went down this morning... looked just like a jake...
