*** December Purchases ***

It is a Radom. Looks pretty late war at that.

Yep! Nazi marked. Somewhere in it's life it looks like someone removed the bluing and then forgot to finish what ever it was they were attempting to do. So it ended up getting some pitting along the slide. I took it all apart for inspection and detailed cleaning. The bore though is IN MINT condition surprizingly. So it should be a good shooter. I have not decided wheather or not I should re-blue it or leave it as is.

Is all the blueing gone? If so, you won't hurt value by finishing bubba's nasty work. Was it originally phosphated or blued?

I'd re-apply the right finish and then age it to match the wear. Here's an old trick: Get some leather work glovew and dust them with talcum powder. Then handle the gun for a while in front of the TV or whatever. The talcum will create finish wear on all the high spots. Then disassemble and clean all the talcum out of the gun again, oil, and re-assemble :)

Many late ones were phosphate finished. You do want to do research and restore it properly, not just get it blued.

Ok, these purchases are just getting to nice. My new Webley .38 rig, holster, cleaning rod, ammo pouch, belt, chrome parade bayonet Mk 4, Laynard, and A VERY NICE 1941 Marked Officers Brass Compass.. SWEET!

Nice Stuff

K98 ACTION, that pistol is utterly cool. Love the accoutrements too. Make me want to "go up the line" to the "sharp end," if you know what I mean.

Well done.

Nice score Bittermansbro! I really like the look of those rifles.

I bought another k98k this month, a czech refurbed byf44 to be exact.

It will soon become a jewel of my collection. Heres the parts that need to go onto it.

Thanks Sigismund, my US martial rifle collection is now complete, although I would like to trade up for a Winchester M1917 at some point. Took off the wood last night and found the barrel under the wood still the nicest blue, no spotting or wear or anything. Although the stock didn't have the red band, I found some of the paint under the handguard, not suprising.

Anyhow, nice Mouser, you are going to fit that scope to that purdy piece? What kind of scope is it?

its a cad scope, 4 power. Which is the correct scope for a byf44. The rings are the high turret style which is all correct for this type of sniper rifle.

Wow! I can definitely see how that would be the pride of the collection.
