December Purchases

I'll apologize in advance for the poor photography, I took these photos at night in my livingroom with a fresh coat of ballistol on the metal so it's too shiny and not properly exposed. Best I can do until daylight tomorrow - lol. Picked up this nice 1944 Remington Rand today. Non-refurb gun, all original with a "Lines" magazine. Nice condition, though the bore is a tad frosted so not quite as nice as the Colt shown above. Oh well, they can't all be perfect.

1942 all over again

I picked up a 1942 Long Branch No 4 Mk 1* (7L series) and a 1942 Savage No 4 Mk 1 (1C series) , planning to add some full wood and refurbish over the winter.

Hey Claven, nice Rand. What do you mean by "Lines" magazine?
The ones marked L on the lip are subcontractor mags made by Little.
Or are you referring to something else?

No, you're right, it's Little. I just typed the wrong thing! It also has a Hi-Standard subcontracted barrel. Truth be told, I'd prefer an Ithaca, US&S or Colt in similar condition, but this one will serve until a better example by Colt, Ithaca or US&S comes along.

I wouldn't be too disappointed Claven buddy...that's a very nice pistol. When you upgrade I'd be happy to provide a home for that one. ;)

Oh, I'm not disappointed. non-refurbed 1911A1's in this condition or better are getting very difficult to find. This is a nice gun. I just like the other makers better because they were less common - Remington Rand was the most common WW2 manufacturer is all ;)

I got lucky this month. A friend sold me this dandy BSA/Parker Hale sporter. I'm going to set it up like a vintage sporter with Weaver rings and a Weaver K-3 I've been saving just for a rifle such as this.

I also picked up this run-of-the-mill TT-33 from a fellow CGN'er. Should be fun to shoot.

Nice pair of Soviets there, blista. And kudos to your Mom. I'm thinking the next thing you need to buy is ammo. ;)

Oh..and if you want to keep adding to the Russian collection..track down one of the genuine Mosin snipers now on the market. Still a few out there.
