Decent ~18" barrel .308 Hunting Rifle

Take your Parker Hale in to a local gunsmith and have the barrel shortened to your desired length or as mentioned in earlier posts there are other off the shelf options. My preference is the Tikka with 20 inch barrel.
I ended up with a Winchester XPR 16", the Parker Hale safety even when I took it out of the stock and just the action wouldn't switch smoothly without a ton of pressure. I like a functional safety so no go for me and not interested in spending anything on it.

How does your XPR shoot?

I chopped a Remington 7600 .308 to 18.6", had the muzzle threaded and had the front sight re-installed.

Scoped it with a PA 1x6x24 taken off one of my banned by Blackface rifles.

What have you got against a threaded muzzle?
Literally every rifle I own now has a threaded muzzle except the vintage 22's.
I won’t use a brake while hunting in the mountains as I hate having to use ear pro. It’s a 308 so doesn’t need one. The gun does not have a thread protector from new. That sucks. And every half inch off the barrel helps me get through the bush easier. And it’s lighter. Always counting ounces. I even took off the black cheek riser.
Now my 300win mag needs a brake but I use ear pro with that one. Too much gun without a brake. 9lbs all in sling and ammo.
