I'm looking to put a rail on my norinco 10.5" AR.
I don't want to spend mad money on a quality rail but I do want something that's going to be strong enough to sustain recoil from a 8.5" Grizzly that I'm thinking of mounting underneath.

It's just a fun project, hence not wanting to spend money on DD/Troy etc.

I'm sure people have done this before so if anyone has any advice on it, that would be great.

Basically thinking about a rail to rail mount then to attach both units.

I have a UTG one and its held up to many range days, different types of competitions (3gun, black rifle shoots etc) with no problems so far. Seems well enough made. screws are decent, machining is decent, finish is ok too. Can't complain for the price. Nicer fit and finish than the NCSTAR stuff and for not much more money.

Perfect, had an UTG on a10/22 years ago, decent enough but never subjected to hard recoil.
I'll check them out.

I should have mentioned that I'd prefer a keymod style rail to keep weight down.

Just checked out true north, I assume theses are generic Chinese rails aliexpress job etc? I've read that the barrel nut on some Chinese rails can be a bit soft, what's your impression of the unit so far, hanging lights and grips us one thing but I'd like to be sure the shotgun won't fly off if I put a heavy load through it.

Also am I looking at installing a low pro gas block to fit these handguards? My front sight block pins won't budge so it might be Dremel time if necessary.

Check out the rails at true North arms ( site sponsor) just threw one on a budget build Ar15 and it's really good quality for the money.

I am also looking for a forearm, and saw the TNA light rail ( Noveske NSR copy), when you say " good quality for the money", are you trying to say that is not that good but because its cheaper you can its okay, or let just say, would you buy this rail if the price at around the $300.00 range. Thanks

I don't think you could find a discernible difference between the two. It's a piece of machined aluminum tubing with a protective coating. One has a name brand on it, the other doesn't.

Check on Ebay, they have Chinese copies of the most popular rails, lot under 50.00, the one rail I bought you could not the difference between a real Noveske NSR and the Chinese copy

I had looked at rails on aliexpress before but for what I want it for i.e. 12ga recoil I'd rather get something a little bit more upmarket, China produces various grades of the same product.
Higher price usually indicates higher QC.

TBH, the supplier on Ali Express and the supplier to TNA are likely the same company but at least you're supporting a Canadian business.

A regular 1/2" torque wrench should work fine with a standard AR armorer's wrench.

I'm pretty sure the railed for ends from true north are the same ones from aliexpress, dhgate and eBay.
