As the title says I'm looking for an excelent gunsmith in SK. I've tried a few and they did sloppy work as far as I am concerned.... :(

AC Douglas in Saskatoon is supposed to be good I have seen his work and it looks great. Kerry Higgins in Saskatoon is supposed to be good he is at Saskatoon Gunsmith Shoppe. I have bought a lot of parts from him and Eileen.

Craige at AC Douglas does excellent work, he delivers on time and is very honest. He has built 3 rifles for me and has done numerous mods for me as well. I have numerous friends that have used him as well and they are very satisfied. If he cannot do it, he will tell you that.

His reputation is as good as any in Saskatoon, and better than some. He turned down a job from me, explaining that he doesn't know that sort of gun well enough to know if he could do it right. I wouldn't have known, he could have taken my money easily enough. The little work he has done for me was done right, when he said it would be, for the price he said. He's my first call in Saskatoon.

If AC Douglas can't or won't do it, I'd have no reservations about asking Kerry Higgins at Saskatoon Gunsmith Shoppe.

Darren at Saskatoon Gunworks is too grumpy for me. I haven't seen any work done by him so I can't comment on his skills.

That's not entirely helpful if you won't say who it is.

He works at North Pro Sports in Saskatoon now. If that's not enough of a hint anyone is welcome to PM me.

:agree: on Darren also. Very poor attitude. He did a bedding job for me that SUCKED. Jim D had to do it over for me because it was so bad. Jim D is not in business anymore though. I did like his work while he was still doing it though.

I like dealing with Craige Douglas, local, fast, honest and a good guy. For rebarrelling work another good option is Ted Gaillard; getting him to install his own barrels makes for one stop shopping.

I have a custom 280 Rem apparently built by A. C. Douglas a few years ago. It shoots and functions superbly so the workmanship must be good.

I could bepend on what you want worked on, shot guns - side X sides-good ones and stocks , their is Kerry Striker at MS Stocking in Leader,
What about Kerry Higgins at Saskatoon Gunsmith Shoppe ?
1911 colts , I know another guy, .
Myself, I do not work on centefire rifles, but have sent 30 years on the wood side of things and also Hi- standard pistols and 22 rifles and shot guns.
I can work on s-w wheel guns, but not trained on them, so I don't work
on them.
And yes, I have my ticket.
As has been stated above I know what to work on and what not to
work on. I mainly consider it as a hobby as it is not my primary job,
and as such don't charge much ,other then stocking and the eyes are going to hell and find I can't do as good as I want to.
I do a job the same as if it was something I would do on my own stuff.
Marshall
P.S. when I got my licence years ago in Sask. , all that was required was
a $25.oo Federal fire arms licence and a $50.oo prov. tax # and a R.M. permit.
and a alarm system of some type for the RCMP.

I agree with that Ted is great. I grew up just outside of St. Brieux. So its only a skip and a hop for me to get to his shop.

I'll vouch for Craig Douglas, good work, honest, fair price, no attitude. Jim's outa business cause he didn't do anything! Gaillard's barrels are awesome, I'll be back for more.

+1on Craig.

Kerry is too busy and is never taking work on.

Have a look at Darren's shop, I wouldn't leave a cap gun with him!
