Is anyone making/importing something reasonable that sells for under $750 new in retail?

Apologies if this is a really silly question, but I haven't been keeping up with things.

Have you wandered through Trade Ex Canada's inventory?

I'd take one of the Tradex guns over a Stoeger.....you'd just need to sift through the lot to find the right one that's in sound health end-to-end. There are more than a few good ones in there.

Alternately, you may wish to consider the following (a 20ga though) provided that is still available...this would be my preference if the Seller may be flexible in terms of asking price...

I would also go with Tradex before one of those others. I have owned an uplander SxS and it was total junk compared to the J.P. Sauer I bought from tradex. Sadly I sold the Sauer and bought a pump with I ended up hating. Ideally you should go for the Bobwhite, I wouldn't mind one for myself.

I, too, wouldn't recommend any of the Brazilian makes. Spend a tad more and get a CZ, if you insist on a new gun. If not, have a look at the higher-priced SxS's on Trade Ex ($500 range - Merkels, Sauers, Simpsons).

You need to be sure that any used gun you buy has 2 3/4" chambers, or longer. Many of the guns on Trade Ex are 2 1/2" chambered. There's nothing wrong with 2 1/2" chambers, but the shells are exceedingly hard to find and your only other choice is to load your own. If you contact Anthony at Trade EX, he'll make sure you get 2 3/4".

You folks are making a strong case for Tradex. Thanks for your insights. (And the Bobwhite would be grand, were it a 12. But it's a 20 gauge. Don't want to add another caliber.)
