decent low cost spotting scope

Just curious, where did you see the Ziess dialyt for a grand? I just came back from WSS and they're selling that same one for $1599. P&D have it on sale for $1349. I am looking to get one for this hunting season. Thx.
I have also looked through the Vortex Nomad. Not bad for $369.
Another one is the Nikon Prostaff for around $400.

thanks for all the advice guys, i'm gonna go ahead and save up some money for a good one then.

any particular brands and models you all think i should look through? i've already got Bushnell and leupold on my list. anyone have experience with the SX1 Ventana line from Leupold? or the Bushnell Trophy XLT?

I've got a Trophy riflescope I like well enough, but at the higher magnifications you use in a spotting scope, you want better quality. In the Bushnell product line I'd move up to at least the new Legend Ultra HD, better yet a Spacemaster or Elite model.

I think I might have an older Bushnell with made in Japan glass in the basement that's not being used and could be sold.

+ Customs $$??

No duties, just shipping, taxes and $8.00 'brokerage' if it comes USPS.

I just bought this Celestron from B+H Photo. 100mm objective and lifetime no fault warranty. I already have an unused tripod, so didn't need another.

I did quite a bit of research on this and bought a Konus 20x-60x 100mm from OpticsPlanet. The scope worked out to $300. With a good tripod and shipping it was $410. Unfortunately UPS will add their rip off fee and then taxes. Total about $500.

From what I can tell, it is probably the best scope for the money around.

Should have it tomorrow. Will let you know how it is once on the range.

Please do... I've got my eye on the 80mm and have been curious about the optics.

Ultima 65mm

Celestron make a decent product in your price range the Ultima 65mm, might even have them at Vancouver Telescope or some of the birding shops in the lower mainland may carry them. They are available with the straight or 45 degree eye piece. FS
