Hey guys,

Just received my brand new Springfield M1A National Match and I am wondering where to get decent 5/20 mags for this rifle? I bought 5 KCI mags from Tradex but the followers are sticking like crazy, even after some fitting of the follower three of them won't feed properly or lock the rifle open. I was trying to avoid Norinco mags and thought that Korean made magazines would have a better fit/finish. I will contact Tradex about exchanging or returning the non-functions magazines. If you guys have any advice on where to look for some decent mags I would really appreciate it.

Cheers,
Mitch

Chinese mags.... Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear, but the Norinco mags are pretty hard to beat!

I also reccomend the AIA Enfield mags. Several site sponsors are carrying them. 5 packs are available from Wolverine. They feed fine, but about 50% of the ones I have do not BHO.

Contact Corwin Arms, they occasionally sell a European magazine for the M14 which is really good and reasonably priced. I checked their website, they are not currently listing them, but they were really good.

Much better than the Norinco standard mags.

Candocad.

The Nork M14 mags with the long sailboat fin welded to the follower are smooth and really good, the fake USGI Chinese mags with the rivet in the back are not as smooth but still work really well.
All KCI mags kind of suck, not just the M14 ones...

My IAI 10 round mag, is probably the nicest mag I own.

Another vote for Checkmate 5/25 and Norc 5/20 here!

Except for that norc 5-rounder. Trying to pry that damn thing outa there, especially when it's cold. First time out, I left it at the range :)

Another vote for Norc mags, they run flawless with the internal steel blocker, much much better than a pinned mag, they work in my M1A's and Norc's no issue here

hey the actual 5 round springfield mag is no better - back in the day we used to call them parade mags and were used for ceremonial so you didn't catch your hand doing drill- the ONLY way was to pry them out with a screwdriver, or unlatch the rifle from the triggergurad

I too like the Norinco M14 magazines with sailboat fin internal block to make it 5/20 capacity.

The finish is pretty decent also, and function perfectly.
