Decent red dot for Tavor tar-21 under $300?

I have been looking for a decent red dot for my tavor rifle, tried a super cheap barska to give me an idea if I liked the red dot or not, it arrived broken already, not a good sign! Time to try something a bit better.

Two so far I have been looking at is the Burris fastfire 3 (3MOA) and the Bushnell trophy TRS-25

I have read many good things about the TRS-25 on here as a lower budget red dot, but not too much on the fastfire 3, is it worth the extra money? If it makes any difference, if I like this red dot I will eventually upgrade it and perhaps look to use it with a tactical shotgun.

Did ordered one for the Little Badger, now it is sitting on top of my Scout Steyr 308, very accurate and clear for less than 150.00... Surprising... JP.

And not to be an ass, but it seems weird to me to put cheap optics of a 2500$ rifle.
I would put a trs-25 on my norc ar, and maybe even not.

ok maybe I dont get it....you buy a gun thats over 2000 bucks and wanna put a cheap optic on it?

just buy once cry once and get a Aimpoint micro

I have several trs-25's sitting on 7.62x39 vz-58's, and they work great. Absolutely no issues. Highly recommended. I replaced one with a Leupold Delta-point, and honestly, I prefer the trs-25 at 4 times less cashola out of my account.

The trs-25 would need a riser on the tavor to sit at a natural height. Eotech is a good choice, and could have a 3-4x flip to side magnifier added later. A used Eotech runs about 300-350. Not here though, lol, well, sometimes here...

I ran a eotech on my tavor but after using a 4x fixed optic I will never go back to a red dot. The tavor needs a fixed zoom optic like an acog or elcan to really shine in my opinion.

OP you just bought one of the most expensive and greatest rifles available in Canada. Save up longer and buy a quality optic $300 will not get you anything that deserves to sit on the rails of a tavor

No problem, I think perhaps you missed the part where I said I wanted to buy a cheap red dot to see how I like it first, before spending $500 plus on a higher end red dot. I can eat $300 or under and put it on a tactical shotgun if I do not like it, I would hate to do it with something almost double or triple the cost and find out I do not like red dots, which is why I wanted to go cheaper first, get the feel of it.

To those who suggested the Vortex, thank you, will look into that one, it seems you cannot really go wrong with the TRS-25 however.

There is only one red dot for the Tavor!! The M21... I actually do like my M21 but there are other good ones. I just wouldn't go cheap. Aimpoint micro, or Eotech. Of course optics as recommended are decent options as well if you don't mind the extra size/weight but want the magnification.

Setup right now for ammo testing.....

An expensive rifle like a Tavor deserves something better than a welfare red dot. Get an Aimpoint or maybe a Trijicon RMR.

I have the Vortex Sparc, TRS25, Aimpoint Micro & EOTECH. All good with their individual advantages. For shooting, I prefer the Eotech by a wide margin. The Aimpoint is great for battery life. The Sparc is just plain good, the TRS25 is nice & light. All good

if I can snag an EOTECH for a bit more used then I would probably jump on it, and like suggested earlier if I do not like it I can always sell it. I have had my eyes on the EE for something to come up but they all seem $550+. If an EOTECH is to come up, is the XP2/3 or the MRDS a better option, or simply preference? To be honest I am completely new to this, there are a lot of options out there.

It also seems most of the cheaper options recommended are the tube type, is a reflex sight not better for quick target acquisition? Which is the whole point of the red dot?

Keep in mind, recoil has a tendency to ruin cheaper optics. So if you put that cheap red dot on your combat shotgun...it may not last long at all. Meaning, whatever small price you paid for it...is totally lost in a short time.

Try a Vortex 1-4x. Not true 1x but with the illuminated reticle it's very good. Plus you get some more reach at 4x

The TRS25 is very well made and a nice little red dot. Some people write it off because it's cheap but they're missing out. Pick one up from the EE for $100, get an UTG riser from Amazon for $15 and you're good to go. If it doesn't work out you can easily sell it on EE again, or keep it for other rifles.

This last one I don't personally have, but read lots of good reviews. Lucid HD7

I'm hunting for an EOTech or a Mepro21 myself... but so far the Vortex is serving me well.
