Decent Video on Deer Processing (Butchering)

A lot of meat left on the spine - he didn't mention it but you can cut the spine into sections and put it in the slow cooker and the meat will cook and fall off the bone and you can remove the bone from the stew (very easily they are large bones) and its some of the tender and tastiest meat on the animal. I cry when I see someone bone out a deer and toss the spine...

With CWD on the scene these days I myself wouldn't bother. I myself live in BC but just the fact that CWD is out there I would not cut thru the spine and consume the meat. I will admit that its a low chance that anything is gonna be wrong but guys should be aware that there is some risk when you cut thru spine, bone, and brain matter...

I live in rural Ontario. I'm more scared of e.coli in my municiple drinking water than I am CWD in a symptomless local deer. Once they diagnose one case of it in my region where I hunt I'll stop, but in areas where its being diagnosed, sure. And 5 to 6 hours in boiling temperatures, that would have to be one hell of a bug to survive the cooking process. I think at least where I live the risk is overblown. But, YMMV and thats a personal decision depending on where you live. Good point.

Right-click the link and select "Save link as" and dump it somewhere you can find it, like right on the Desktop.

I use the strips from between the ribs as, well, ribs. I'm partial to them done up with VH brand Honey Garlic rib sauce, and served on rice. Boneless ribs. Mmmmm....

Cheers
