Decided on a .270, now what brand?

I am tempted to do another Tikka since my varmint rifle shoots so well, but the .270 will be a safe gun and only brought out to deer hunt up north, if I ever get the chance. I will likely use it varmint hunt with just to familiarize myself with it, but who knows, right now all I know is that I want a .270.
Wood would be nice, I am thinking maybe a Remington 700 but I am wide open to suggestions.
 
Good choice in the .270 caliber. I have a 1988 Browning in .270 and with 100 grain bullets, it "vaporizes" the varmints at 3300 FPS. Load it up with 150 grainers for deer and you have all the gun you will need. there are many great used rifles in the EEs if you choose to browse.
 
I have a 700 BDL DM 270, but all my bolt actions are 700 BDL DM's.

I would say if you already have a Tikka, buy another Tikka so it is familiar to you and everything works the same.

Pick one that feels good when you shoulder it.

Not sure what else there is to gain outside of bragging rights, I doubt I will find a rifle that out shoots my Tikka, so the extra cost doesn't make a lot of sense to me at this point. I think the Sakos are beautiful, but I don't see the spectrum spread you do.
Also, I am thinking wood this time around, I don't own any nice wood stocked rifles.
The CZ may fit the bill, I just don't hear much about their larger calibers.
 
Personally I would go with a Remington 700 CDL. They are a good looking rifle. Last fall I bought a Ruger M77 "Hawkeye" in .270 Win, for a new deer/moose/bear rifle. It is a very pretty rifle, but I am not at all impressed with the accuracy, OR the action. I find Mauser actions to be a bit sloppy, but this one is more so than others. Because of the loose tolerances of the action, if the bolt is not thrown PERFECTLY straight to the rear, it often binds. This is a problem if trying to get a second shot off quickly at a deer or bear.
I'm not ready to give up on the Ruger just yet, but I imagine I will probably buy a CDL either this year, or the next.

Wood ?

Personaly I would look @ the cz550 full ( manlicher) stock.
- beautiful stock
- standard or "set trigger" just push foreward on trigger
- strong / smooth action
- short manueverable barrel -18" & you wont miss the slight drop in speed. when your starting @ well over 3000 /fps
 
My pick, and this is based on looks as much as anything would be a Win. Model 70 featherweight, or Ruger International. I've checked out both these rifles in .270 and they look and fit very nicely without any of the dreaded plastic.
 
I have owned at least a dozen Husqvarna rifles in 270 over the past forty years, and cannot remember one that would not shoot less than one-inch groups. They are great rifles!
