Deciding on an ar...

I realize that. I spend allot of time at the range, and im into it. thats why im looking at accuracy whith this purchase. And I know the tools dont always make the mechanic so to speek, but is sure as hell helps!

I like where your heads at.

Keep us posted on what your doing with your rifle. I like seeing when people actually don't attach ridiculous aesthetic things to their rifles and actually BUY STUFF THAT MAKES IT BETTER.

Im in the same boat as the OP. Iv been looking for more information on all the AR's available right now and have a couple in consideration.

The stag 2R16LE found here:

the LMT LMT-SPM16-X found here:

and the spike ST-SPIDER-145-556-PKG here:

Im mildly interested in the NEA:

Now that someone other than me has opened te floodgates :) can I have some peoples inputes? iv done allot of reading on all these guns, and learned allot. But I still have no idea who makes the more accurate out of all these manufacturers.

For the price NEA seems in the lead especially as it comes free floated. Now if we can only get a good range report on the expected accuracy...

I've tried several NEA and LMT rifles. They are all good. The rail on the NEA is very nice. There are lots of AR options out there and the majority of them are great. Shoot both of them and then make your decision. Try before you buy is the best way to go if you can arrange it.

That is quite a claim...where did you get that information?

Hopefully I didn't overstate it but...

I seem to recall from Arms East threads. That and the Abbotsford police use either a Colt or a Stag in their cars. They use both interchangeably.

My 2T for example came with the H buffer, F sight correct staking of the bolt. Some of the things that "the list" claims Stag doesn't come with.

If Colt wants to make configs for civvy purchase, Colts would be available in Canada.

As it stands, CMT/Stag Arms have been building everything but the barrel under license for Colt since 1973. So if you want the same spec parts, with the rollmark from the subcontractor rather that the primary contractor, AND assembled and inspected with love and care in CANADA, drop us a line! :)

Wait, you already did! :D

Fear the Deer baby!

thats what kills me too.

People come on and they'll be like "oh I just brought it to the range and sighted it in. I can hit a milk jug at 4 meters" or some bull#### like that.

its just like HOLY #### PEOPLE BRING ENOUGH GOD DAMN AMMO XD

Yeah I've tried to bone-up on the NEA threads but can't see much about their accuracy.

I was getting 3-4 MOA using a 4MOA red dot and cheap MFS ammo from a 7.5" bbl.

I suspect that improves with longer barrels and more precise optics.

Well, I am going to start using it with the irons (right now my budget is only so big). At some point, I will put an optic on it but I don't know when that will be. I was thinking a red dot but was also thinking maybe a leupold mark 4 that starts at 1.5x. Would rather save the money and buy quality later though than some crappy knock off now.

If anyone has some suggestions for optics, let me know!

I dunno. Will see if I can shoot guns with various optics on them to see what I like.

Congratulations, good decision.

This thread, and your other one (http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=688703), are probably the two most reasonable "first AR purchase questions" threads that I have seem on this forum.

Stick with your plan.

Hopefully I didn't overstate it but...

I don't KNOW that you're incorrect...but there is a substantial difference between having an H buff etc and being made entirely to Colt spec.

Just as an example of the way in which a supplier can build parts for a manufacturer and not make spec, Bushmaster used to build their guns out of CMT parts...which had been rejected by Colt as unsatisfactory.

So there is potentially a big difference there. Bushmaster could legitimately claim to be using all the same parts as Colt. But they were Colt rejects!

CAN Stag build a Colt-grade gun? Absolutely, I am sure that they can. Do they always? I would say no. The Canadian guns seem to be built to a better spec than the US average and that may well be due to the excellent influence of ArmsEast, but that is not the same as being built to Colt spec.

That is not a knock on Stag...but my usual interest in factual accuracy.

Yup no argument there. I posted the links to the threads by Arms East. To help clarify.

Not 100 percent positive myself.

Excellent post. I like how you linked the brands/rifles for consideration.
