R1 enhanced is a great choice, but also the SR1911 with a little + with a smoother trigger..., so for me :

1- SR1911
2- R1E
 
I thank you all for the advice and I'll check the R1E and Springfield out too.

My application only went out in the mail on Tuesday, so I have plenty of time to do research. Hah!

The STI Edge is a 2011. If the STI Trojan hadn't gotten ridiculous in $$$ it would be my recommendation. I would search EE for your 1911. I have been happy with Kimber, STI, and Ed Brown. Don't let anyone sway you from your calibre of choice! 9mm and .45 are both awesome in the 1911. I couldn't live without both. Okay that was a bit dramatic. I could live, I just wouldn't be happy! The single stack 1911 moves me, the 2011 less so.

Look at Smith Wesson as a option as well.
 
I picked up a sig tac ops with the traditional slide a few years ago and it's never once let me down.
I wasn't a big fan of sigs take on their square top slides, but the traditional model is simply a sig 1911.

I liked it because of a few reasons, the big one being the aggressive 25 LPI checkering on the front strap. Shooting my friends series 70 I always found it very slick in the hands. The other benefit that I didn't realize until later on is that it pretty much came as a fully loaded gun. Decent grips, good sights, light rail, ambi safety, mag well, 4 mags, extended beaver tail, aggressive frame.
I've been really impressed with the gun ever since I purchased it and I've never had a single hiccup. The only thing I changed out was the factory ergo grips for some aggressive VZ grips and may swap out the sights but other than that it's been 100% since 2012.

Sticking with .45 and the Tac Ops does seem nice

Of those three, Les Baer is the easy choice. I would also consider STI, although they have recently gone up in price quite a bit. Freedom Ventures had some great Black Friday deals on various STI pistols (i.e. Trojan for $1400, Lawman for $1700) and perhaps they will have similar for Boxing Day...

Curious is there a big difference between Les baer and dan wesson?

STI seems to have really high prices at the moment for what they offer compared to others
Lawman popped up on EE for 2k

Les Baer has always been known as one of the top "semi-custom" 1911 brands (along with Ed Brown and Wilson Combat). They put a premium on extremely precise fit and accuracy. The same is true of STI, which primarily caters to competition shooters. Even their more affordable models, like the Trojan, go through a lot of hand-fitting.

Dan Wesson was originally known for making guns that were more cosmetically appealing than your average Kimber/Springfield/S&W and were selling at a bit of a premium as a result. It's wasn't long ago when most of their guns were selling in the $1,200-$1,700 range. These days, they sell for about twice as much. Dan Wesson also has an odd practice of selling "blemished" guns at a discount. It makes you wonder why they churn out so many blemished guns that it's worth their while to sell them instead of simply discarding defective parts, as you would expect a high-end manufacturer to do.

Dan Wesson uses state of the art modern manufacturing to create tight tolerances while Les Baer uses more traditional hand fitting to achieve this. Either will get you a great pistol.

Define special Springfield. LB and DW both make nice guns, but I'd go LB if near the same price point though the DW will be more nicely finished. If special Springfield means something out of their custom shop, then I'd absolutely go that direction.

Are the three you're looking at in the EE right now?
 
My minty Springfield Trophy Match is beautiful and I only test fired it, it is from the late 90s I wonder how much it is worth? Like new in box with two magazines. Thanks.

Well put. Totally different approaches but both get you a great shooter.
