So I'm trying to decide between these two scenarios and looking for advice. Here are the two choices at hand.
1. Buy a browning a bolt composite stalker blued barrel in 300 wm with boss for $700 no scope but I can get one for fairly good price from a buddy of mine or.....
2. Buy a new ruger American rifle in a 30-06 for $675 including a rdfield or bushnell scope.

My hunting is going to be deer, moose, elk, and bear one day. I already have a good .243 that I use for deer but looking at something with more knock down power for larger game. Plus I do a lot of target shooting as well. What would you do? Money is an issue as I didn't want to go much above the $700 mark but I can if need. Mental thing I guess.

They have really good special on the A-bolt stalker right now you can buy them for 550$.Put a redfield 3-9x on that and you will have a really good combo for a reasonable price.

Dante sports the store is locate in Montreal but they ship all over canada.Check there special page on the website they list the 270,30-06 and 7 mm mag for 547.77$.

I've order a few time from them and they were good to deal with.

I have ordered from them as well with good success.....:)

I have owned a Browining A-bolt II Composite Stalker in the past and it was a really nice rifle that shot incredibly well. I wish I hadn't sold it. That would be my first choice between the two options that you're considering. Money can be tight sometimes but you only have to buy it once and then it's yours.

Yeah I would also go with the .300, from what you mentioned you plan on using it for I think you would regret a 30-06. Also, I would consider a .300 short mag. I have one and im very happy with it. That is if you havnt bought the .300 yet but either way, great choice with the browning!
