I have wanted an XCR since I saw one, but every time i get close to pulling the trigger on one I read something bad. I currently have a VZ58 M4 style in 7.62, and I'm wondering if I'd be better off getting a T97 and having both calibers or just getting and XCR with a caliber kit. I primarily kill paper and plink. Is an XCR really worth the extra money?

On the other hand chinese stuff is sometime good, often not that good...Like they say you get what you pay for... JP.

I agree, but the options are slim for a non restricted black rifle. I like the Tavor, but from what I've read it has a bad trigger and it's no more accurate than an XCR. Why would I spend more for it?

Your budget and end-use are ultimately going to be the determining factors here. If you're just hunting paper targets you probably won't realize a lot of the benefits of the XCR. The T97s are probably going to be longer than the April 2013 (just FYI).

The Tavor doesn't have a bad trigger; it's a combat trigger - and not a match trigger that many are used to. Why would you spend more? Because it's friggin cool, that's why. ;)

I was like you a couple years ago, trying to decide between the XCR and everything else. I finally just pulled the trigger, so to speak, on the XCR-L and haven't regretted it since. You will hear lots of hate for them for some reason but I love mine and my buddies who shoot it also really enjoy it too. I have also recently bought a Daniel Defense M4 V5 as I always wanted a true AR, and while I really like it, my XCR is just as accurate, and way more ergonomic and user friendly for me. A buddy has a HK SL8 and we both agree that my XCR is just more user friendly and no less accurate then his HK.
Also if you get one and don't really like it, they seem to hold their resale really well and you can sell it easy enough. Heck, buy one used on EE and probably get what you paid for it a year from now.....

IMO an XCR is (way) too much $$ for what you get and I simply do not get what there is to get one's undies wet over the T97!

Not very constructive I know :)

Yes, unlike the Tavor, HK SL8, KelTec RFB, ...

On a non-sarcastic note, my XCR-L is my favorite mid-caliber center-fire rifle by far, even compared to other rifles that I have shot.
