Decisions decisions !

I like to think of a Norinco as an LRB with a payment plan....

You can make an initial payment of $500 dollars and then spend an additional $1000 + on upgrades as funds become available. This in my opinion is the number one reason guys buy Norinkos over the Springfields and up.

First thing to go is the rear sight. Actually the M14.ca casm mount kills two birds with one stone, so for about the cost of some GI sights you can get that scope mount.

These guys are right though... You can buy more expensive M14 type base models and not shoot much if any better. Once you get into the $3000 models you will see a marked improvement though.

You may find comfort at another level with the Norinko... Scratches and dents don't seem to hurt like they do on a pricier rifle. For this reason they tend to get used more.

Yeah, but @ 3000$ you can probably rebuild the rifle only keeping the receiver with match grade parts, and still have the $ to replace the bluing with nickle plating lol.

I think I read somewhere that Canada Post actually made money this year. Wonder how much of that was due to shipping charges for all the parts us M14 Norc owners paid for all our upgrades? Still the best money I ever spent on a steel and wood Lego set in my life. As they used to say "more fun than a barrel of monkeys".

I cant take a AR(15) out to my family farm and shoot coyotes or gophers with it legally either though .
I cant take a AR(15) out hunting typically either.

And i've seen a few videos with the m14 was outshining a AR10 platform

I would rather have a 1500-2000$ Non restricted Semi Battle rifle over a 1000-2000$ restricted AR any day of the week.
80% of my shooting is not at a range.
Then again not everyone has a Family farm they can go shoot 500-800M on with no other people bothering them either.
I can take a damn ATV to go pick up or look at my targets lol:p.[/QUOTE]

true to that, thats why im saving up for a National Match, or maybe a Rock ol LA whatever's more accurate.

Update on my parts gathering.

McMillan fiberglass stock (Used) $300
USGI Trigger group (new production) $300
Treeline M14 parts $833.95 USD more like $1000 exchanged shipped in two packages
NM sight $150
$1600
This leaves receiver and barrel and bolt
LRB receiver $1500
Krieger barrel ? Have not decided on medium or heavy yet. I also have a nice USGI walnut here if I decide to go another way.
Bolt ?
As I said here comes the $4000 Super duper match. I could save a bunch of money buying a Norinco for the receiver. I may be collecting things in the wrong order. If it was a car I have bought the wheels and interior first. Treeline seems to be running out of some stock.

I bought my SAI in 2002 for about $2100 as I recall. Exchange was high then.
The barrel is USGI chrome lined
I have replaced every trigger group component with USGI except the housing.
All of the bolt components are USGI
It now has a Boyds stock and GI but plate
I have discovered the op rod to be SAI and have acquired a USGI for it
I'm switching the flash suppressor over to GI and using the NM one on my build.
Given that the original parts have some value I would but the cost at or about the same as Rockola
Although the receiver is cast it wears more original parts than a Rockola.

I suppose there are many ways to go about this.

Seafury….you should start another thread with pics of your parts and stages of the build. I for one will be interested in seeing the progress….

Where did you find the Krieger barrel? I went to medium weight 22".

I have no problem with others showing builds in this thread.

Will be easier for others to compare builds.
