So I've decided I was goin to spend the ct money I've been collecting on my ct MasterCard and add another 22 to the collection... I have to order one because there are no Henry lever at my local ct... I know the Sr guys in the sporting good dept and had them check if the can get me a "Evil Roy" or "Small game carbine" was told $710ish for the evil roy and $730ish for the small game and atleast a 90 day wait... So which one should i get.... I really like the silver finish on the evil roy but hate the logo on the stock... the small game carbine is the same 16" octagonal barrel but blued and it has a skinner peep sight which I really like.... this is a hard one... what would you go for

I would go with the small game. I had a Golden boy and it has a lower drop comb than the regular model which made it awkward lining up the sights for me. I would guess that the Evil Roy is the same as the golden boy, just silver.

Either one will shoot straight and be a whole lotta fun for you. Every range trip has one of my Henry's tag along no matter what else I'm bringing.

I have the Evil Roy in 22lr and a non-octagon barrel carbine in 22lr.

The Evil Roy doesn't have the same stock design as the Golden Boy, it has the same profile as the normal Henry H001 (with a slightly shorter LOP). The silver on the Roy is nice and has very little glare. It's also not just a finish, it's the colour of the receiver. I too am not a fan of the lettering in the stock, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I'm also not a huge fan of the big loop lever for asthetics, but it is pretty quick to work the action.

If it was my choice, I'd go with the Roy. It has a more unique look that compliments the rifle nicely.

Yea I Definatly like the looks of the evil roy more but would prefer the peep sight over the buck horn... I feel it would be a bit more accurate and I will probably use it for ruffed grouse and other small game... i just wish they had them in stock so i could compare in person... anyone know of a ct store in ont with either or preferably both of these rifles in stock...

^^^^^ This.

I actually just ordered the octagon barrel mount Skinner "Black Silver" for my ER.

My H001Y (youth) is my go to ruffed grouse rifle.

Go with the Evil Roy. They are very well built. Like you not a fan of the engraved stock. I phoned Henry and bought a standard one for reasonable price. I own the 22LR and the 22 WMR editions

That's what I was thinking.. how is standard buck horn attached to the barrel? Is it removable? I would probably prefer a peep on the back end of the receiver like on the small game as opposed to barrel mounted...

I just ordered a small game carbine in 22lr from bullseye today for 619.00. Cant wait to try it out, it will definitely go on lot of grouse hunts this season. I say go for the small game carbine hands down even with the wait.
