I just bought two guns for something to do in my shop. One was an I. G. Mod. 71/84 Mauser built in 1888. I downloaded the 65 page of instructions on taking this beast apart. That will be my goal after I finish work on my second purchase. So far I have repaired the rear sight and have freed all the external bolts using penetrating oil, a hot air gun and some hammer taps on correctly sized screw drivers. The second gun, the mystery gun, was a centre fire with a .22 caliber barrel. A chamber cast informed me that it was a 218 Bee. It was made using a Krag action and a .22 Winchester long barrel. I went into town and bought a box of bullets. They fit the blind magazine and fed very well. The stock needed some work to decrease the width of the barrel channel, to free float the barrel and to glass bed the barrel. This has been done. I will be re-blueing the metal as the next project. I may have to rename this gun 218 Gopher if it's a shooter. The scope is an old Weaver G4. These are fun projects that gets me into my shop every day.
