I have used deer decoys with some success, I have two doe decoys one is a sillouette and one is a reddi-doe.
I have had many deer walk right up to both these decoys and have had a doe actually kick my reddi doe over.
I have only had immature bucks respond to them though.. so this year I am going to try a buck decoy.
I took the smallest one of the old rack's I had lying around and screwed it onto the head of my ready-doe... presto... ### change operation... Vennesa became Vern
I am gonna set up over Vern as soon as I get over this cold

That looks great Big Redd .The DNR have had great results with similar looking deer.Only they were after hunters. A buddy of mine painted a plywood cutout to look like an antelope for bow season. It would pull them in to about 75yds , so your setup should work great.

Frigg... you got lesbian does????
Yeah I wondered that myself until the doe that came in with fawns gave a warning bleat to the decoy... then turned sideways and her hackles came up... next thing you know she was up on her back legs and throwing kicks with her front.
In my area traditionally the low buck to doe ratio allows for more doe conflicts than buck conflicts
This year however I have notice a couple of batchelor groups working the food plots. I am hoping they will react to an interloper in the area....

P.S. Cadeuses it might be a good idea to shrink your avatar a little...

I've heard other fellas using them with some degree of success. I've always thought about trying them. Just never have. Maybe this year I will.

Dave.

I tried it 2 years ago with no success using a redi doe with a white rag soaked in doe piss for a tail (to provide movement). I was doing something wrong since the deer would come in and holdup at 40 yards.
So, last year for added realism when it turned cold I wrapped my decoy with a real doe hide. Didn't work.
Any tips Bigredd?

During migration you can set up about a hundred of these in open fields and sit in your blind and call until large flocks come in close and then let them have it with 00 buck. I've heard this works for bear as well...
In case anybody hasn't guessed it, yes, I was the class clown!
Hey, too bad about the cold, BR. It will be interesting to see how this works out.
Crysler, try wrapping yourself in a doe hide and let us know how that works out.
Cripes, somebody stop me...

Just be alert for short-sighted hunters cruising around on quads when you set-up/take-down. Had a scare last year, maybe a good argument for bright colours at that time.

I had a rear end collision at the foot of my driveway one year... early one morning we set the decoy out in the side yard while we were hanging a couple of deer. One car slams the breaks on and backs up to get a better look... his two buddys are following close in a truck and they are looking at the deer too... Bam... two pissed off Millbillies

Those were the smallest antlers you had lying around!!??man do I feel like a loser. I have never seen a deer with headgear like that while I had a weapon in my hand and an open season. I guess I just specialize in does and spikers. Maybe this is my year...maybe.

Don't worry you are not alone  But I think Ol'Red's just trying to baite us into reacting the way we are, that sly dog...Red Dog, is'nt that a beer?

But I think Ol'Red's just trying to baite us into reacting the way we are,
the antlers are a little too large for a decoy... and ideally you want a lesser buck for a decoy so as not to scare away the others
I can show you some less small racks if you like

It looks like a Blow Up Deer. There are area's of the country where it might not be safe from Penetration..... and i'm not talking about Bullets!
