Dedicated .22 AR with short barrel

I'm looking to put together a dedicated .22 AR with a barrel around the 12" length. I have an M&P 15-22 and really like it, but want something with a bit shorter barrel. I'd prefer a dedicated upper with a proper .22 barrel and not just a drop in .22 bolt for a .223/556 upper, but haven't had any luck finding anything shorter than 16".

Any suggestions?

I was told to contact Dlask and see if they will make a custom short rimfire barrel. I never heard back from my email, so I can't tell you if they will or not. All the US manufacturers are hung up on the 16" barrel limit to avoid an SBR classification, which doesn't help us up here.

I sent Dlask an e-mail a couple months ago and never received a reply. My guess is there isn't a huge demand. I wonder how much difference in accuracy a dedicated.22 barrel would be compared to a drop in kit, seeing as how I'm looking at a short-ish barrel?
