Deer are on the move

Drove up to the cottage Friday night, spotted seven deer on the way, along northern roads.
That's very unusual. The leaves are openning up, and you can't see very far into the bush anymore.
One, a very small fawn, stopped broadside in the middle of the road. I've never seen one that small without spots. One blaaat from mother, and off it went.
The black flies are brutal, I guess they are looking for an escape.

Keep your eyes open, or you may get some expensive venison.

The yearlings are all split off from their mothers... most does giving birth right now and kicked them out. The blackflies and mosquitoes are pushing the deer onto the roads too... heed J/C's advice and slow down at dusk.
Everything seems a little early this year don't you think?
