Back to the query- I have a Marlin 1894 in 44 RM. I plink with it, camp with it, hunt deer etc and am quite happy to sling it over my back when fishing in the foothills. It is quick to the shoulder, light weight, accurate and a riot to shoot. My Win 94 in 30/30 fits the bill as well so......have fun either way.
