Deer Bullet

Something strong and rigid as hell, as the .270 is a lousy choice for deer at those ranges. Yes, they will die, but they'll be half shredded before they hit the ground.

Something like a Nosler 150 Accubond or a Hornady GMX maybe? These should be strong enough to not upset too violently in this scenario.

Better yet, sell the .270 and get a .30-30, or a .250-3000.

My Browning Bar 270 loves the 130 gr Nosler Balistic tip. 3 deer 3 shots. Ranging from 70 yards to 150 yards. Longest track 40 yards, shortest right where it was standing.

I've taken a number of deer with the Hornady 130 gr standard Interlock, the Win 130gr Silvertip and the Nosler 130gr Ballistic Tip.All worked well. The Ballistic Tip is a bit on the tender side, but kills well (took a very big bodied Mulie buck with this one).

A bit of hyperbole, perhaps! The .270 is not a lousy choice at these ranges and certainly will not half shred them!
If hunting is only within a 100 yards then a 150 grain bullet, such as the Hornady Interlock, would be fine. But, the Hornday 130 grain Interlock will also work fine.

I have shot deer within 25 yards with a .270 and 130 grain Hornadys, and they worked fine.

I consider my .270 a sweet deer gun. My favorite bullets are Barnes 130gr TSX's. 3 deer so far & 3 bangflops. I also shot a bear using a 150gr Hornaday roundnose bullet. Shot was from about 15m in the chest. Small entrance wound, no exit wound. Never found the bullet in the bear, just shrapnel.

Bullets in the 130 to 150 grain, I agree, should be fine but see if your rifle actually likes the cartridge load, first at a range, before you go on your hunt, to sight them in.
Happy hunting and good luck in getting that steaming gut pile.
